Dobelice combines nature themes with traces of local history. A forest nature trail, a geological site and historic archaeological sites each offer a different focus. When choosing a destination, you can weigh up whether you are especially interested in nature watching, geology or local history.

Nature themes: forest trail and spring flora

The Stezka Lesním světem v Dobelicích is a short forest nature trail, about 0.5 km long, below Dobelice. It includes a wetland and a larger rest area. Its educational character makes the trail a nature attraction in its own right: the focus here is on the trail and the wetland, complemented by the rest area.

The Ledvice hillfort site also has a botanical aspect. Several plant species grow at this site in early spring, including Czech star-of-Bethlehem, lesser star-of-Bethlehem, marsh marigold and pasqueflowers. The seasonal aspect is particularly noteworthy: these plants are mentioned as early-spring species, not as a year-round feature. If you would like to combine an interest in nature with local history, the hillfort site offers both themes, although they are distinct: the plants are part of the site's natural character, while the former fortress and the village of Ledvice give it historical significance.

Geology and nature conservation at Na Kocourkách

The geological site Na Kocourkách is associated with Dobelice and Vémyslice and consists of three small rises in the fields. It is known for fossil finds, including shark teeth, mollusc shells, and fish vertebrae and teeth. This gives the site a different natural focus from the forest nature trail: here, geological formations and fossils take centre stage rather than a short educational trail.

Na Kocourkách is also a protected area. It protects semi-natural dry grasslands and populations of large-flowered pasqueflower and sand iris. The site is also home to warmth-loving plant communities with numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species. Geology and plant life thus offer two different perspectives on the same named site, while the forest nature trail brings together the wetland and rest area as its own themes.

Belfry, chapel and historic archaeological sites

The Zvonička na návsi was built in 1881 and reconstructed in 2010. The reconstruction was part of the celebrations marking the 750th anniversary of Dobelice's founding. The year it was built and the reconstruction mark two distinct points in the belfry's history; the celebrations form part of the historical context of the work.

The site of the former fortress and village of Ledvice lies about half a kilometre southwest of Dobelice. At the Ledvice hillfort site, a prominent ditch separates the central part of the complex from the slightly elevated outer bailey. This layout gives the historic site a specific feature: in addition to the former settlement itself, the distinction between the central part of the complex and the outer bailey can also be described. Ledvice thus combines its historical associations with the botanical interest at the hillfort site mentioned above.

The Kaplička na křižovatce is another example of local history. It is a valuable example of vernacular religious architecture. This classification draws attention to religious building culture, complementing the history of the belfry and the Ledvice site with an architectural theme.

For your selection, this means: the forest nature trail offers a short, educational nature experience featuring a wetland and rest area. Na Kocourkách combines geological formations and fossil finds with protected dry grasslands and rare species. At the Ledvice hillfort site, the historic site and early spring come together as a botanical focus. The Zvonička and the Kaplička complement these nature themes with local and architectural history.
