For a stay in Braníškov, two themes are clearly distinct: the landscape along the Bílý potok and village history centered around the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius. A convenient path along the stream is suitable for walks and bike rides; the chapel built in 1863 stands in the village square. This lets you give nature and local history different levels of emphasis during your trip.

The valley and forest around Braníškov

About half of Braníškov’s cadastral area in the west lies within the Údolí Bílého potoka Nature Park. The nature park encompasses an almost 15-kilometer stretch of the Bílý potok, which runs through a narrow, deep, picturesque valley in a gently rolling upland. The description of the landscape thus brings together the striking valley and the gentler relief of the upland.

Braníškov’s cadastral area covers 364 hectares, more than half of which is forested. These figures refer to different scales: 364 hectares and the forest share describe the entire cadastral area, while the almost 15 kilometers refer to the section of the Bílý potok within the nature park. For orientation, these offer two perspectives on the landscape: the forested cadastral area and the course of the valley along the stream.

Walks and bike rides

A convenient path along the Bílý potok is suitable for walks and bike rides. A named cycling route offers another point of reference: “Around the Bílý potok and Libochůvka” runs from Veverská Bítýška along the Bílý potok to Hálův mlýn and via Maršov and Braníškov to Vlkovská hájenka. The path along the stream is suitable for a walk or bike ride; the named route places Braníškov among a series of several places.

When choosing an outing, these offer two different ways to orient yourself: the waterside path as an activity and the cycling route as a named itinerary. The route first follows the Bílý potok and continues via Maršov and Braníškov to Vlkovská hájenka. Braníškov is therefore part of an itinerary that also includes Veverská Bítýška and Hálův mlýn.

The chapel and village history

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius stands in the village square. It was built in 1863 and is a single-nave building in the folk Baroque style. “Single-nave” describes its basic layout, with one nave; the style designation identifies its design as folk Baroque. The year it was built, its basic layout, and its style thus provide three distinct points of reference for the chapel.

The Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage festival took place in Braníškov in 2025 and 2026. The history of the tennis court is also part of the local story: future club members built it through voluntary work, with financial support from the municipal office.
