Local history and specific hiking destinations take center stage in Svinošice. If you are considering the village as a place to stay, you can choose between trails to Babí lom and the ruins of Nový hrad, nature destinations, and the village’s cultural monuments. Svinošice has one hotel for overnight stays; check current availability before booking.

Hiking Trails and Destinations Around Svinošice

A yellow-marked hiking trail starts in Svinošice and leads to the Babí lom observation tower. The 15-meter-high tower is 4.3 kilometers from Svinošice and is freely accessible. It is advisable to check the trail markings and conditions again before setting out. This lets you plan your hike around a specific destination without assuming a walking time.

Another route description leads to the ruins of Nový hrad: first follow the yellow hiking trail to the U Jelínka trail junction, then continue on the red hiking trail. The stated route is 10.6 kilometers long. The two destinations therefore offer different points of reference for planning: the observation tower has a stated distance and a yellow-marked trail, while the castle ruins involve a longer route with a change in trail marking.

There are also two different ways to explore woodland. The nearby Babí lom forest educational trail is just under two kilometers long and has ten information panels in total. The Lesy města Brna educational trail starts about 500 meters from Lelkovadlo. It explains a tree’s journey from seed to wood products. At Lelkovadlo itself, a wooden sculpture, there is a rest area with benches and a covered shelter.

Nature and Rest Areas

In the eastern part of Svinošice lies the restored Luhy site, with a rest area and a fire pit. From the rest area, you can reach the Šebrovka waterfall. This provides another specific nature destination for your plans: Luhy is a resting point from which the waterfall is also accessible.

South of Svinošice lie the protected Spálená skála area and the Babí lom Nature Reserve. Babí lom includes a rocky ridge of siliceous conglomerates covered by natural woodland. The observation tower, educational trail, and nature reserve are distinct aspects of the name Babí lom: the tower is a hiking destination, the trail is defined by its length and information panels, and the nature reserve by its rocky, wooded ridge.

Local History and Culture

The Chapel of the Holy Family was built at the end of the 19th century. A cast-iron cross on a stone pedestal has stood beside it since 1871. In the upper part of the village, on the road to Šebrov, there is a wayside shrine that is a state-protected cultural monument.

Across from the chapel, a 1921 war memorial in the village square commemorates the people of Svinošice who died in the First World War and lists their names. The pedestal was later supplemented with a marble plaque bearing the names of three victims of the Second World War. Another commemorative plaque has been on the former school building, now the cultural center, since 1945. It commemorates headteacher Bohumil Vařílek.

Traditions and Accommodation

Svinošice’s traditions include August kroj festivals (krojované hody) and a carnival procession through the village. The tasting competition for the best slivovitz is also part of the local character; it is called “Svinošická švestka.”

Svinošice has a hotel offering overnight accommodation. Check current availability before booking. As a road reference, Route II/379 runs east–west through the village from Blansko to Brno. Which of the destinations mentioned is your priority can help you choose where to stay in Svinošice and find suitable accommodation.
