Lazinov lies on a bay of the reservoir near Letovice; dense green forests surround the village. Visitors planning a stay can combine two themes: the waterside landscape and the history of a village whose lower-lying part was changed by the construction of the reservoir. Marked trails also lead towards other places in the surrounding area.
The Reservoir and the Village’s History
The Křetínka Reservoir near Lazinov is 4.7 kilometres long and covers an area of 105 hectares. The body of water also shapes the village’s history: during the construction of the reservoir on the Křetínka from 1972 to 1978, the settlement of Stavení and the lower-lying part of Lazinov were flooded. The landscape and the past are therefore closely connected here.
At the viewpoint above the former site of the Masákův Mill, a bench and a vodník figure commemorate the old mill and the flooded part of the village. From there, you can enjoy a view of the Křetínka Valley, now submerged. The spot combines views of the landscape with a reminder of the changes brought about by the construction of the reservoir.
The Lazinov cross also tells a story spanning several periods: it was erected in 1860, restored in 2006, and placed in 2008 in the village square in the reservoir’s bay. Another prominent structure is the stone bell tower. Its construction date is not certain; historical sources date its construction to around 1832. The tower contains a wooden bell frame. The bell was consecrated on 4 June 1922 and has been preserved to this day; the bell tower was renovated in 2005.
Marked Routes and Connections
For walks, marked route 5161 connects Lazinov with Křetín and then continues north towards Vlkov. For the most part, it follows roads, paved forest tracks, and field paths through the valleys of the Křetínka and Svitava.
