Krasová combines a marked hiking route with landmarks in the village and a local history dating back to 1717. There are three specific points to consider when planning your visit: the route through the Krasovské údolí and its destinations, ponds and retention basins in the village, and the history of the renaming along with the festival associated with it. This can help you decide whether outdoor activity, the regional landscape or local festival traditions should be the deciding factor for your stay.

Hiking and Cycling

A red-marked hiking route leads through the Krasovské údolí to the Balcarka Cave and Ostrov u Macochy. In the opposite direction, the marked hiking route leads to Jedovnice. If you want to visit the cave or Ostrov u Macochy, take the valley route; for Jedovnice, take the opposite direction. Before setting out, check the local trail markings and current trail conditions to make sure your plans match the signed route.

Two intersecting cycling routes pass through Krasová. This is a different way of finding your bearings than when hiking: route numbers and signs may change, while current trail conditions should also be taken into account on the hiking route.

Landscape and Location

Krasová lies at the transition between the Drahanská vrchovina and the Moravský kras. Part of its cadastral area lies within the Moravský kras Protected Landscape Area; under Natura 2000, the Moravský kras is a Site of Community Importance. Thus, two different scales come into play: the landscape names locate Krasová within the region, while the protected-area designation applies to part of its cadastral area. If you take nature and hiking into account when choosing where to stay, this context complements the specific directions of the marked route.

Ponds and Places to Relax

The three Krasovské ponds provide clear landmarks in the village. One is in the village centre, while two others lie on the descent from the village towards the Krasovské údolí. There is a fishing building with seating by the ponds, beside a field track. The Krasová retention basins are also worth noting if you want to stop and enjoy the landscape: visitors and cyclists can sit there and take in the views. The ponds help locate the village centre and the descent into the valley, while the retention basins offer a place to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Local History and Festival Traditions

The first written mention of Krasová dates to 1717, when the settlement was founded as Rogendorf. In 1946, it was renamed from Regendorf to Krasová. The Tradiční krasovské hody commemorates the renaming to Krasová and is associated with celebrating the Czech version of the municipality’s name. The three-day festival takes place on the first Sunday in August. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the latest event announcement and programme in advance.
