Cetkovice lies in the eastern part of Malá Haná; the forests of the Drahanská vrchovina lie to the southeast. Alongside routes through the countryside, the village’s notable features include religious buildings, a former railway stop and a horse farm. This gives you a choice of outdoor activities, architectural history and horse-riding options for your stay.
Routes to suit your time and ability
The “Cesta pĹ™Ărodou pod BorotĂnem” route is 11 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty and takes about three hours. At 6.7 kilometres, “Za cetkovickĂ˝mi kĹ™ĂĹľi” is the shorter route and is rated easy; it is listed as taking approximately one hour and 50 minutes. You can use both routes on foot, by bicycle or with a pushchair.
This gives you some clear differences to consider when choosing: the longer route covers 4.3 kilometres more, and the estimated durations differ by approximately 70 minutes. If you want to spend less time on a route, “Za cetkovickĂ˝mi kĹ™ĂĹľi” is the shorter option. “Cesta pĹ™Ărodou pod BorotĂnem” combines a longer distance with a moderate difficulty rating. The stated durations are estimates to help you plan your time, not an exact schedule for the day.
Crosses and religious buildings
Eleven crosses in the area around Cetkovice serve as landmarks along the walk. They are also examples of small-scale religious architecture. They provide practical guidance along the way while offering a cultural theme that can also be found in the village’s buildings.
The present-day parish church of St Philip and St James in Cetkovice was built between 1699 and 1700. A stone baptismal font dating from 1591 has been preserved in the church. It therefore predates the church building itself. If you are interested in local history, you will find two distinct dates here: one for the construction of the present-day church and an earlier one relating to the history of its preserved furnishings.
Fara Cetkovice also offers a historical point of interest. Originally built as a summer residence in 1762, it is listed as an immovable state-protected monument under number 0422. The coat of arms of Pavel Ferdinand VáclavĂk is still preserved at the entrance. The building’s original function and the visible coat of arms offer two different clues to its architectural history.
Former railway stop and riding activities today
The former railway stop, built in 1899, was part of the local railway line and served passenger traffic for Cetkovice and the surrounding area. It is no longer in operation and is therefore not an active stop for arriving by train. It is part of the village’s transport history, while for your current travel plans you will need to consider other ways of getting there.
Another highlight is Farma CH, a horse farm in the municipality of Cetkovice. Its activities include horse breeding, riding lessons and recreational rides for children and adults. Alongside the two routes, this gives you horse-related activities to consider for your stay. You can choose what to focus on according to your interests: countryside and walking routes, religious architectural history or horse riding.
