Kluky lies on the Chřešťovský Stream, in the Písecké hory area. The landscape, marked trails and historical landmarks give the village its distinct character. The surrounding area is suitable for hiking and cycling; buildings in the village itself point to different chapters of its history. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Kluky, these highlights can help you decide whether to focus your trip more on trails through the surrounding area or on local history and architecture.

Hiking and cycling routes around Kluky

A blue-marked hiking trail through the Písecké hory passes through Kluky between Na Křižatkách and Chřešťovice. This makes Kluky part of a route connecting two named points. The blue markings and named endpoints distinguish this hiking route from the numbered cycling routes.

Cycle route 1016 runs from Údraž via Mlaka and U Hromové jedle to Křižatka. Cycle route 1017 connects Kluky with Písek and Albrechtice nad Vltavou via Chrastiny, Chřešťovice, Jehnědno and Údraž. The routes relate to different places: for route 1016, Údraž and Křižatka are the endpoints of the described stretch; for route 1017, Písek and Albrechtice nad Vltavou are named as connected destinations. You can tell the two cycle routes apart by their names and numbers, without combining them into a single tour.

Building history and historical references

Kluky was first mentioned in writing in 1323. In addition, ceramic fragments from the 13th century found in Kluky are listed in the inventory book of the Písek Museum. These are two distinct historical reference points: a written mention of the village and archaeological finds attributed to an earlier century.

In the centre, House No. 18 displays the influence of so-called rural Baroque. Tomáš Fiala built it around 1791 as a manorial cottage on land owned by the estate lord. The approximate construction date and named builder add the specific context of the house’s construction to its architectural classification.

The small church Kostelík Panny Marie is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Construction began in 1947; it was completed in 1948, along with the surrounding wall and cemetery furnishings. Its building history therefore includes both the start and completion of construction, as well as the named parts of the site. House No. 18 was built considerably earlier than the small church: around 1791 compared with the church’s construction start in 1947.

A monument to Jan Hus was erected on Hořice at the initiative of the teacher Jan Zoubek. This adds another form of remembrance to the building history: here, the focus is on a monument, while House No. 18 and the small church are each specific buildings with their own historical context.
