East of Vícemil is a notable viewpoint offering panoramic views of the landscape and Deštná. The area also features striking religious structures, historical records spanning several centuries, and opportunities to explore the region from a cycling perspective. Vícemil can therefore be understood through a range of themes: its landscape, its local history, and specific details about its chapels and crosses.
Landscape between viewpoints and the village
The eastern viewpoint is designated as significant and offers panoramic views of the landscape and Deštná. Its surroundings are to remain open, undeveloped and unforested so that the view and unobstructed horizon are preserved. West of Vícemil, an area is designated as having landscape value and aesthetic merit, based on the harmony of natural and urban-planning values. These two geographical features have different emphases: to the east, the focus is on the view and horizon; to the west, on the combination of natural and urban-planning values.
Local history and regional architectural heritage
Vícemil was first mentioned in 1378. A charter from 1418 allowed the inhabitants of Deštná and Vícemil to freely bequeath and sell their property. In 1597, the Kapinošovský farmstead and its associated sheepfold were mentioned in Vícemil. These dates represent different aspects of local history: the first mention, a regulation concerning inheritance and sale, and the later reference to a farmstead with a sheepfold. The surrounding area also offers a cultural point of interest: nearby is, among other places, Červená Lhota Castle, a monument of architectural interest.
Chapels and religious monuments
The village chapel in Vícemil is designated as a significant architectural landmark. East of the village stands a rectangular stone niche chapel with an image of Jesus Christ. The wayside shrine (boží muka) in the open countryside of Vícemil is designated as a cultural and architectural asset. The descriptions highlight different features: the architectural significance of the village chapel, the form and image of the niche chapel, and the location and cultural classification of the wayside shrine.
The stone cross near Vícemil is three metres high and bears depictions of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. On the road towards Deštná stands an iron cross on a stone pedestal, depicting the crucified Jesus. Another iron cross on a stone pedestal is located on the outskirts of the village towards Chotěmice; it depicts Christ and the Virgin Mary. The crosses described differ in material and location; the stone cross is also notable for its stated height, while the images distinguish the two iron crosses from each other.
Cycling around Vícemil
An existing cycle route passes through the Vícemil area. There are also numerous marked cycle paths nearby.
