Choosing a stay in Dinin can be guided by two main interests: the historic village layout of Dynín and the ponds and wetlands in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether the village’s architectural history or nature and landscape themes will shape your stay more. Both offer different starting points for planning.

Village square, granaries and rural architectural styles

Dynín was designated a place with a protected heritage zone on 19 November 1990. The farmsteads are arranged around a large, almost rectangular village square. This pattern defines the village layout: the square forms its spatial centre, while the surrounding farmsteads reflect the rural character of the buildings.

The ensemble of 19th-century granaries is generally characterised by simple façades, triangular gables and sawtooth ornamentation. Dynín has also preserved a series of vernacular masonry buildings dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Together, these architectural styles paint a picture that extends beyond any single building to include the arrangement and variety of rural architecture.

Farmstead No. 25 is a registered immovable cultural monument. It comprises a residential section, a granary, a gateway and wicket gate, stables and a barn. This list highlights the various elements of the farmstead: residential and agricultural buildings stand side by side, rather than the heritage status applying to just one house.

The Chapel of St Wenceslas is considered one of the most important sights in the municipality of Dynín. The history of the school also goes back a long way: construction began in April 1923, and classes started there in October of the same year. The start of classes in that same year is a distinct historical milestone alongside the beginning of construction.

The former village of Německá Lhota is also part of the municipality’s historical context. During the expansion of Záblatský Pond, it was flooded along with its farmsteads between 1580 and 1582. The event links the settlement’s history with the expansion of the pond, without equating the history of the former village with today’s village layout.

Ponds, wetlands and protected landscape

The eastern part of the municipality of Dynín lies within the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area. The protected area therefore covers a specific part of the municipality, not every part of the village. The Dolní dynínský is also relevant to understanding the landscape: this pond is part of the Záblatská pond system.

Nearby, Hliníř is designated a natural monument in the cadastral areas of Bošilec and Lhota u Dynína. The area protects a valuable transition mire ecosystem with protected and endangered plant and animal species. Hliníř is a small wetland area with several shallow pools, adjoining a pond. The protected area also includes aquatic habitats with bankside vegetation and scattered trees.

These landscape features offer a different perspective on the area from the farmsteads and village square: here, the focus is on wetlands, shallow pools and other aquatic habitats. Visitors who want to plan their stay primarily around nature will find specific points of interest alongside the village’s cultural and historical features.

Cycling route and focus of your stay

A cycling route through Dynín passes through a landscape characterised by ponds, expanses of water and marshes. Cycling route 1134 passes through Dynín; check route conditions and signage before setting out. This keeps the landscape description and the practical guidance about the numbered route as separate points of reference.

The Chapel of St Wenceslas and the heritage zone add to the picture of the area’s architectural history; Třeboňsko, Hliníř and the Záblatská pond system offer other points of reference.
