The church, castle and varied village landscapes give a stay in Přestavlky U Dnešic a historical and rural character. At the same time, the “Pohodová” cycling route runs through Přestavlky as well as Dolní Lažany and Horní Lažany. This offers a choice of different points of interest: architectural history, distinctive settlement patterns and a cycling route. Each village has its own details: the church and castle shape the historical character of Přestavlky, while smaller buildings and the layout of each village stand out in the two Lažany settlements.
Church and castle: traces of different eras
The Church of St Peter and St Paul (Kostel sv. Petra a Pavla) dates from the first half of the 14th century. It was later remodelled in the Baroque style between 1680 and 1682, and refurnished in 1685. These dates mark several building phases: the church originated in the Middle Ages, while its later appearance acquired a Baroque character. Those interested in architectural history will find not just a single date here, but a sequence of changes that can be traced in one building.
Visits to the church are possible by arrangement and during services. If you are planning a visit, arrange it in advance. Přestavlky Castle stands on the site of a former farm belonging to Chotěšov Monastery. Its history can therefore also be understood through the earlier building: the castle occupies its site. Opposite the castle, in an open space, stands a copy of a statue of Saint Liborius on a Baroque plinth. The statue is explicitly a copy; the plinth, location and connection to the castle form a separate historical point of interest alongside the church.
Horní and Dolní Lažany
Horní Lažany lies below the wooded massif of Černé vrchy. The village is home to a wooden bell tower dating from 1899. Here, a specific local building combines with the setting below the wooded massif. This gives the village a different focus from Přestavlky, where the church and castle shape the architectural history.
Dolní Lažany has a different village landscape: several farmsteads cluster around a small pond. A walled chapel dating from 1905 has been preserved within the enclosure of a farmstead. In comparison with Horní Lažany, it is not only the individual building that is interesting, but also the different setting in which it stands: a wooden bell tower there, and here a chapel within a farmstead enclosure and a settlement of several farmsteads. This makes it possible to consider the three villages through their distinctive features rather than reducing them to a single attraction.
Cycling through the three villages
The “Pohodová” cycling route, maintained by the Radbuza Microregion, runs through Přestavlky, Dolní Lažany and Horní Lažany. It offers a shared cycling focus for the three villages mentioned above. Check the current route signage before setting out. Horní Lažany also has a bicycle service point with a clear map and tools for bicycle repairs. The municipality reported the point on 9 November 2020; confirm that it is currently operational before including it in your tour plans.
For trip planning, these villages offer distinct points of interest: the church and castle lead to the architectural and local history of Přestavlky; the two Lažany settlements add a bell tower, a chapel and varied village landscapes. The cycling route passes through all three villages mentioned above. If you are looking for accommodation in Přestavlky U Dnešic, you can plan your stay around the point of interest that appeals to you most, and arrange your church visit and check whether the bicycle service point is operational in advance.
