Líté combines a long local history with a landscape of forests and a flowing stream. Local events and traces of the area’s former industry also shape the character of the place. These themes offer different starting points for planning a stay: you can explore Líté’s history, get to know its natural surroundings or plan a visit around an event date.

Local history between monastery and industry

Líté was first mentioned in writing in 1175. In a deed of donation from that year, Prince Soběslav transferred an area containing the villages of Líté and Lomnička to Plasy Monastery. Bělá Castle is also part of the area’s history: Líté was associated with it for several centuries and was also owned by the Lažanský family.

Kaolin and vitriol later shaped the area’s industrial history. After a kaolin deposit was discovered west of Líté, the new estate owner Sigfried Klein and his business partner built a kaolin processing plant near the road to Spankov. A vitriol works was also among the local industrial facilities; in the second half of the 19th century, it was incorporated into J. Starck’s operations. Overgrown spoil heaps are reminders of both industries. The history of the place thus stretches from a medieval deed to traces of its industrial past.

Hollow, forests and Zelené jezírko

Líté lies in a small hollow through which a stream flows, surrounded by forests. Manětínsko Nature Park reaches the western edge of the village. Zelené jezírko is another feature of the landscape: the local biocentre lies within the cadastral areas of Líté and Dolní Bělá and is considered a unique geological natural site.

Both designation as a protected natural monument and restoration of the former tourist access have been proposed for Zelené jezírko. These plans should be distinguished from access that is already available.

Events and local cultural life

ÚŽAS holds the annual dance evening “Josefovský jarní vínek” and organises a traditional Shrovetide procession through Líté. Another event is a mototourism competition aimed especially at parents and children. The activities differ in character: the dance evening and Shrovetide procession are local traditions, while the competition focuses on mototourism. If you want to plan your trip around an event, check the current dates locally in advance.

The cultural scene also includes the amateur theatre group Úžas Líté, founded in 1981 and part of the amateur theatre community in the northern Plzeň area. Together with its events, it shows that the area’s history is not only about older landmarks and industrial facilities, but also includes local community and cultural life.

Plan some time to play at the sports ground

Time at the multi-purpose sports ground in Líté can be booked in person or by phone with the groundskeeper. If you would like to include the ground in your plans, you can contact the groundskeeper directly. Since booking arrangements may change, it is a good idea to confirm them again before your visit. This lets you combine the different aspects of the area without having to follow a set itinerary.
