Brodeslavy brings together distinct historical and natural points of interest. The village’s history includes its ownership by Plasy Monastery until the start of the Hussite Wars in 1419 and its incorporation into the Kaceřov estate from 1559. In the village centre, there is a chapel dating from 1877 and a small pond; Berounka Nature Park and a local cycling route offer other perspectives. If you are looking for a holiday rental, these themes can help you decide in advance which aspect of the village you would like to shape your trip.

Village history and historical affiliations

Brodeslavy was first mentioned in 1144. Until the start of the Hussite Wars in 1419, the village belonged to the Cistercian monastery at Plasy. In 1559, Brodeslavy became part of the Kaceřov estate of the influential Florián Gryspek. For travellers interested in local history, the combination of monastic ownership and later affiliation with an estate offers a perspective of its own: it adds different historical relationships and periods to the picture of the village.

Chapel, pond and cemetery

A rectangular chapel dating from 1877, with two small turrets, stands in the centre of the village. Its construction date places it in time; its rectangular shape and two turrets give it distinctive architectural features. A small pond is also located in the centre. The Brodeslavský potok flows through the village, so the pond and the stream are distinct in location: one is a central feature, while the other runs through Brodeslavy.

The well-maintained and actively used cemetery lies outside the village, on the road towards Bohy. Its location is therefore clearly distinct from the chapel and pond in the centre. Those interested in local features can thus distinguish between the village centre and a separate point of interest outside the village.

Landscape in Berounka Nature Park

The cadastral area of Brodeslavy is part of Berounka Nature Park. The park protects the landscape character of the deeply incised Berounka Valley and its tributaries, as well as its rocky outcrops, adjoining forest complexes and agricultural landscape. Its protected area thus encompasses watercourses, rock formations, forests and agricultural land. This is a different focus from the chapel and village history: while those relate to specific features in the village, the nature park provides a broader landscape setting. When planning your trip, you can consider whether you are mainly interested in the village’s history or the park’s natural environment.

Cycling in Brodeslavy

The local Kralovice III cycling route passes through the municipal area of Brodeslavy. If cycling is part of your travel plans, this is a specific point to consider when choosing where to stay. Check the current signage and route status before setting off. The route is a planning consideration in its own right: it identifies a course through the municipal area, while the nature park describes the landscape setting.
