If you’re looking for a holiday rental in Dražeň, you can choose where to stay based on clearly distinct cultural and natural attractions. Alongside the Chapel of the Holy Family and the stone cross, there are the Ludvík Očenášek nature trail, Malenický Spring, the Osojno nature monument and archaeological traces at Osojno. The Malenice area east of Dražeň also has a mining history. This lets you decide before your trip whether to focus on architecture, the nature trail, protected landscapes or historical sites.

Chapel and Stone Cross

The Chapel of the Holy Family has a regular octagonal floor plan—in other words, the building is laid out in an eight-sided shape. Its entrance inscription contains a chronogram dating to 1720. The floor plan and inscription offer two distinct features: the geometric layout and the historical reference of the chronogram.

About 1 kilometre from the village, the Dražeň stone cross stands on the left-hand side of the road to Pláň. An iron cross was later attached to its upper side. Comparing the chapel and the cross reveals different features: the chapel’s floor plan and inscription stand out, while the cross has a stone base with a later-added iron cross.

Nature Trail and Nature

The Ludvík Očenášek nature trail runs for 13 kilometres between Plasy and Dolní Bělá and is marked in green. The route is accessible year-round; nevertheless, check current access conditions and trail markings before setting out. Dražeň is listed as a nearby place to get refreshments along the trail. If stopping for refreshments is important to your plans, check the specific options in advance.

Malenický Spring, near Dražeň, can be reached via the green-marked Plasy–Dolní Bělá hiking trail. It has been officially protected since Plzeň Region Regulation 5/2010. The spring emerges from shale in the valley of the Dražeňský potok; precipitated salts form separate terraced pools. This natural site brings together its location by the stream, the protected spring and a distinctive landform.

The Osojno nature monument near Dražeň protects a remnant of natural thermophilous woodland with typical forest flora and a species-rich spring bloom. The flowering provides a distinct seasonal highlight and may shape your plans if you want to focus on the woodland flora.

Osojno and Historical Traces

The Osojno hilltop settlement is classified as a Category UAN I archaeological site and as an important archaeological locality in the cadastral area of Dražeň. It lies on a rocky promontory west of the Osojno farmstead. Its terrain and archaeological classification convey two distinct aspects: its specific location and its significance as an archaeological site.

There was a 200-to-300-metre-long mine adit in the Malenice area east of Dražeň. In the 19th century, iron sulphate was leached there; the adit was used by the Stark-David company to produce sulphuric acid. The former use of iron sulphate is therefore another historical theme of the surrounding area.
