In Chocomyšl, village history, cultural landscape and opportunities for a short break come together. The village lies in the valley of the Merklínka stream; part of the Chudenicko Landscape Conservation Area extends along the southeastern edge of the administrative area. This brings together a specific valley location and a broader connection to the cultural landscape. When choosing a holiday rental, consider what matters most to you: are you interested in historic buildings and local history, would you like to plan walks and short breaks, or are you drawn to a cycling route for experienced riders? These different themes give you a basis for shaping your stay around your own interests.

Hunting Pavilion and Village History

The hunting pavilion “Kuchyňka” is a small work of garden and landscape architecture. It was built in 1825 as part of the Chudenice hunting landscape. The building is single-storey and masonry, with a regular hexagonal floor plan. The two descriptions convey different aspects: “single-storey” describes its height, while the regular hexagonal floor plan describes its shape from above. Historically, Kuchyňka served as a resting place during walks and hunts, as well as an open-air kitchen at hunting events. The pavilion thus combined spending time outdoors with a practical function during hunts.

Statue and Château

A reconstructed statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1708, stands in the village square. Its date precedes the construction of Kuchyňka in 1825, providing a different point of reference in time. Chocomyšl’s former château was later used for agricultural purposes. The château therefore represents a different phase of use from the pavilion: here the focus is on later agricultural use, while the pavilion is associated with the earlier activities of resting and hunting. Together, the statue, pavilion and former château offer different points of reference for the history of the village.

A Short Break by the Pond

The central park with a children’s playground by the Chocomyšlský rybník can be enjoyed for a short break; walks in nature are another option. An avenue of oaks runs along the pond embankment. The park and walks offer opportunities for a short break, while the avenue is a specific feature of the pond landscape. The park combines a place to relax with a children’s playground; the avenue of oaks adds a landscape feature to the pond embankment. This gives the landscape its own focus alongside the historic buildings.

Cycling Route and Getting There

The Chudenice cycling circuit passes through Chocomyšl, is about 55 kilometres long and is intended for experienced cyclists. Its approximate length and clearly stated target group set it apart from the park’s short-break options: it is suited to a dedicated cycling trip rather than a short walk. Route conditions may change; check the latest information before setting off. Public transport buses stop in Chocomyšl. If you are travelling by bus, check the timetable for your travel date. This allows you to treat cycling and bus travel as separate planning matters: for the ride, check the current route; for your journey, check the specific timetable.
