An approximately 2 km circular trail follows the Capartické louky nature trail through the southern part of the Český les Protected Landscape Area. In Capartice, you can also choose between a viewpoint, a marked hiking trail to Čerchov and tangible traces of local history, each offering a different focus. Depending on whether you prefer nature, views or historical context, these themes can shape your stay.

The Capartické louky nature trail

The nature trail starts and ends at the car park in Capartice. The route follows paved and unpaved paths; the terrain is easy, and the trail is suitable even for small children. At around two kilometres, the loop is a manageable distance, and you return to your starting point.

Interactive play features illustrate the effects of water and give the nature trail a clear thematic focus. Together with its circular route and easy terrain, this offers a distinctive way to combine the landscape with a nature theme on an outing. If you value a specific theme as well as the route itself, you can take this focus into account when planning.

Starting point for views and hiking

The car park is on the main road next to the bus stop. It serves as a starting point for the Výhledy viewpoint, with its statue of local writer Jindřich Šimon Baar, the Capartické louky nature trail and the marked hiking trail to Čerchov, with its Kurzova věž lookout tower. The car park is therefore a clearly identified landmark for your journey. The car park is on the main road next to the bus stop. The difference between the routes is specific: the nature trail starts and ends at the car park, while the marked hiking trail leads to Čerchov.

The destinations offer different highlights: Výhledy combines a viewpoint with a connection to a local writer, the nature trail offers an easy loop with a water theme, and the marked hiking trail leads to Čerchov and Kurzova věž. This lets you choose according to the focus you want, rather than treating the destinations as similar routes. Check the seasonal access rules before travelling.

Founding and former transport routes

Capartice was founded in 1705 by Count Jan Stadion to supply wood for the Stadion family’s hammer mills and glassworks. The purpose of its founding is clearly defined: supplying wood was the main priority. This adds a glimpse into the village’s early history to its nature and hiking destinations.

An old country road ran through Capartice. The U zeleného stromu inn once stood at the highest point of the village. Horse teams came this far; below Klenčí Hill, they were harnessed in front of heavy wagons or attached to them. This history tells of both the former road and the role of horse teams in transporting heavy wagons. Along with the village’s founding to supply wood, it offers a second, historical perspective on Capartice.
