An approximately six-kilometre educational trail, a cycling route and a traditional pilgrimage Mass give Bělá u Jevíčka a distinctive character. The town also has historic buildings and memorial sites. During your stay, you can choose between outdoor activities, local architecture, and religious or historical culture.
Educational Trail and Cycling Route
The Bělásek educational trail is about 6 km long and has nine information boards. There are also three educational features for children. The route thus combines a specific length with information and learning opportunities; the three additional features are expressly aimed at children. For a trip with children, they are a clearly identified part of the trail.
Bělá u Jevíčka is also a junction on the approximately 21 km “Skrz Maló Hanó” cycling route. The educational trail and cycling route therefore differ in purpose and stated length. If cycling is part of your travel plans, its role as a junction provides a specific link to the route.
Buildings and Local History
The sanatorium complex has been protected as a cultural monument since 1 April 2016; its registration number is 105817. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk also has a clearly defined history: in 1846, Vavřinec and Anna Maria Knödlovi had it brought from Prague and erected in front of their house, No. 10. The pedestal features volute-shaped wings and a relief depicting his fall into the Vltava. The statue’s origin and installation, on the one hand, and the pedestal’s design, on the other, offer two different ways to engage with the monument.
The local pilgrimage tradition includes a traditional Mass at the Church of St Bartholomew. Bělá u Jevíčka also has a memorial to the victims of the First World War. Alongside the buildings, you will therefore encounter religious and historical memorial sites.
Chapels in Malonín and Smolná
In Malonín, a small chapel with a bell tower stands by farm No. 124. It is designed in the Secessionist style and dates from 1903. By contrast, the chapel with a bell tower in Smolná has a square ground plan and was built in 1904. These features distinguish the two buildings: in Malonín, the design and location are specified, while in Smolná, the ground plan and year of construction are given.
In Smolná, the chapel with a bell tower and the adjoining fire station together form a local landmark. This adds another local point of reference to the details about the building’s form and date: here, the relationship between two buildings is also distinctive.
