Mistrovice brings together destinations related to landscape, nature and culture: from the highest point in the municipality to a viewpoint, a nature reserve and a Neo-Romanesque church. Local points of interest therefore range from elevation and protected flora to architectural and religious history.
High Points and Trails
The municipality’s elevations range from 397 to 591 m. At 591 m, Židův kopec is the highest point in Mistrovice; U lipek is a viewpoint at around 537 m. The two destinations address different orientation needs: at Židův kopec, the focus is on the municipality’s highest elevation, while U lipek is specifically identified as a viewpoint.
A field track from Hubálkův statek No. 112 or a footpath from Malův kříž on the road to Sloupek leads to Židův kopec. Reach U lipek via a field track that starts at the road near house No. 50 and passes houses No. 154, 48 and 49 in the direction of the hill. The access routes thus differ in one practical respect: there are two route options for Židův kopec, while the directions to U lipek use several house numbers as landmarks.
There is also a named route to consider when planning a hike: the Jablonné nad Orlicí–Letohrad walking route passes through Mistrovice. It offers a different kind of orientation from the local access routes to Židův kopec and U lipek, as it describes a route through the village rather than a single path to a destination.
Nature Between Mistrovice and Verměřovice
Sutice Nature Reserve lies between Mistrovice and Verměřovice on the right bank of the Tichá Orlice and is part of Orlice Nature Park. Protected flora can be found in the reserve, including střevíčník pantoflíček, sleziníky and břečťan popínavý. If nature is a particular consideration when choosing where to travel, you can distinguish this botanical focus from the high points: here, the emphasis is on protected plant life, not the elevation of a single point. Its location between the two villages and on the riverbank also places Sutice in its geographical context.
Church and Visit Planning
The Church of Sts. John and Paul (Kostel sv. Jana a Pavla) in Mistrovice is a Neo-Romanesque building dating from 1876 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1998. The construction year and protected status provide two distinct points of reference in time: the building’s origins and its later designation as a monument. The church is a branch church of the Roman Catholic parish of Letohrad, where services are held regularly. If you would like to combine a visit with a service, check the times separately. For those interested in sacred architecture, the building style, construction year and protected status offer specific points of interest; the regular services indicate the church’s religious role.
