Three themes take center stage when visiting Dříteč: the architectural history of the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the Elbe landscape around the Tůň u Hrobic natural monument, and the Hradubická-Labská cycling route. They take different forms: a historic building, a protected landscape, and a cycling route with named endpoints. When planning your stay, you can decide whether the church’s history, nature, or a specific cycling route section should be the main focus.

Church history in the historic settlement area

The Church of St. Peter and Paul stands in the eastern part of Dříteč’s historic settlement area. The present building was constructed between 1749 and 1758 to replace an older church building that had been destroyed at a different location. The construction period refers to the present building; the older church building was a destroyed predecessor at another location. Dříteč’s smaller cultural monuments also include four stone crosses. For a cultural and historical focus, the church’s architectural history and the crosses as additional stone monuments can be considered together.

Tůň u Hrobic and the Dříteč poplar

The Tůň u Hrobic natural monument protects a dead arm of the Elbe with natural flora and fauna. Its area extends across the cadastral areas of Dříteč and Hrobice. The Dříteč poplar, a memorial tree and representative of the old natural flora of the Elbe lowlands, stands in the northern part of the Tůň. This brings together two distinct natural features: the Tůň as a protected habitat, and an individual tree with memorial status and a botanical classification. The protected area’s geographical extent and the tree’s location in its northern part provide different points of reference when exploring the landscape around Dříteč.

Cycling route sections with different endpoints

Cyclists can choose between two sections of the Hradubická-Labská cycling route. One runs along the Elbe to the wastewater treatment plant in Dříteč and ends at a local road in the municipality. Another section follows the Elbe River from Dříteč to the bridge to Němčice. The endpoints provide specific points of reference: the first section mentions the wastewater treatment plant and a local road, while the other ends at the bridge to Němčice. If you would like to include a cycling stage in your stay, choose a section based on your preferred destination and check the route before setting off. This lets you make your choice according to the particular section rather than just the shared name of the cycling route.

Masopust as a seasonal reason to travel

The traditional Masopust in Dříteč symbolically marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The festivities include a procession and Masopust specialties. It adds a seasonal event to the church and nature themes: unlike the location-specific architectural and landscape features, Masopust is tied to an event date. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the specific date in advance and arrange your travel days accordingly.
