Prostějovičky lies above the valley of the Drahanský potok stream and combines historical sites with outdoor activities. The Chapel of St. Anne and the monument to fallen heroes represent the history of the village; the Zahrádky outdoor area is used year-round for various events, while the multi-purpose area near Zahrádky is used for several sports.

Chapel and local history

The first mention of Prostějovičky dates back to 1347. The Chapel of St. Anne was built in 1854 and expanded in 1870 with a sacristy and a choir loft. There are 16 years between the construction and the expansion. A sacristy is an adjoining room, while a choir loft is a raised level in the choir area. For those interested in architecture, the two dates represent more than a sequence of years: they distinguish the original construction from the later expansion, while the terms help explain the added features. The first mention came 507 years before the chapel was built.

In the community life of the time, building the chapel and obtaining permission to hold five Masses each year were considered the most significant events. The chapel’s importance to the community thus adds another historical perspective to its construction history.

The monument to fallen heroes was restored in 2007. This date adds a more recent connection to local remembrance alongside the chapel’s construction dates. The history of the buildings and remembrance thus stand side by side as distinct themes in the history of the village.

Zahrádky: Events and sports

The Zahrádky outdoor area is used year-round for various events, including dances and children’s afternoons. The specific program may vary. The multi-purpose area near Zahrádky is used for small-sided football, nohejbal, basketball, tennis, and pétanque; availability may vary. The two areas therefore serve different purposes: events with changing programs and individual sports.

Seasonal event information

A local traditions booklet lists Zelená stopa for April and May as a family competition combining sports and knowledge-based tasks. Dušičkové putování is listed there for November. The events thus differ in timing: one is associated with spring, the other with November.

Planning your stay

When deciding when to travel, it is worth distinguishing between historical points of interest and activities that depend on the season. The chapel and monument offer a chronological perspective on the village; for the two event formats, however, the listed months and a current date are what matter. Use of the multi-purpose area for sports raises a separate question of availability. So if you are looking for a holiday apartment, first decide whether you want to attend a specific event or focus on the village’s history independently of one. A listing for April, May, or November is a seasonal indication, not a specific event date.
