Luká brings together nature and history: karst formations, nature trails, a memorial and a Baroque church offer different ways to shape your stay. If you want to compare routes, you can find information about their length and what there is to see along the way. The Javoříčské Caves also offer something distinctive, combining a striking underground landscape with sections open to the public.

Nature trails and landscape

The Javoříčko Nature Trail is one kilometre long and has nine stops. It passes the newly marked foundations of houses that were burned down and starts at a former school. The school has been converted into a modern exhibition about the events at the end of the war. The exhibition shows Javoříčko as it was before its destruction and provides information about the wartime events. Along the way, you will encounter both visible traces of former houses and an exhibition on local history.

The Špraněk National Nature Reserve lies in the western part of the cadastral area of Luká. Its underground and surface karst features include abysses, a rock arch, ponors, sinkholes and karren. The five-kilometre Špraněk Nature Trail runs through the reserve on a limestone hill and begins and ends in Javoříčko. Along the way are the collapsed borehole at Zátvořice, the Svěcená díra Cave and Zkamenělý zámek. In the reserve, you may walk only on marked trails.

The Bouzov Nature Trail runs between Bouzov and Javoříčko through the valley of the Javoříčka stream and past the Panské rybníky ponds. It has seven stops; some have covered seating areas with views of the landscape. A route around the Panské rybníky, also five kilometres long, is intended for pedestrians and cyclists. This gives you a choice of different route profiles: a nature trail with named landscape features, or a route specifically intended for cycling as well.

The Javoříčské Caves

The Javoříčské Caves, which are open to the public, are notable for their abundant stalactite formations and a complex system of passages, abysses and domes. They lie in the Devonian limestone of Mount Špraněk and extend across three underground levels. The currently known passage system covers more than 3.5 kilometres, of which 788 metres are open to the public. These figures represent the extent of the known passages and the section accessible to the public.

Memorial sites and architectural history

The Javoříčko Memorial is a national cultural monument commemorating the tragedy of 5 May 1945. It stands directly above the mass grave of the victims and takes the form of a group of six larger-than-life figures. Together with the exhibition in the former school, it is a focal point for visitors interested in the history of Javoříčko.

The Baroque Church of St John the Baptist stands in the village square of Luká. The present building was constructed in 1734 on the site of an older church. The year therefore refers to the current church building; a church had already stood on the site.

Compare routes by interest

The two five-kilometre routes offer different options: the Špraněk Nature Trail passes karst formations and named stops, while the route around the Panské rybníky is intended for pedestrians and cyclists. If you are looking for a hotel in Luká, you can use this distinction to decide what you want to focus on during your stay: the landscape and karst, or a route also intended for cycling.
