Hlušovice combines a stop on the cycling route from Olomouc to Šternberk with ponds in the village, a Neo-Gothic church and a leisure area along the Hvězdná cycling path. The different places and activities each offer something distinct: water and cycling, architectural history, and sports and leisure activities.

Cycling Route, Ponds and Maják

Hlušovice is the first stop on the cycling route from Olomouc to Šternberk. The route leads to a pond in the village centre. A second pond offers a different setting: willows grow beside it, and a water-sprite figure stands on an island. The differences are clear: the pond in the village centre is notable for its location along the route, while the second is distinguished by its willows and the figure on the island. Those who want to explore both waterways and the cycling route will find two distinct attractions in the village.

The Maják Hlušovice leisure area is also located along the Hvězdná cycling path. It includes a restaurant inside a replica of a naval ship, a stylish Captain Club and a lighthouse. The maritime theme of the restaurant and the lighthouse offer a different experience from the ponds and cycling route. If you plan to visit the area, check what is currently on offer in advance, as details about its facilities may change.

Church and Architectural History

The Neo-Gothic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Hlušovice was completed in 1926. Today, it serves as a branch church and belongs to the Bohuňovice parish. Thus, the building has both a recorded completion date and a present-day ecclesiastical affiliation.

A more than 200-year-old Baroque wayside shrine with a triangular floor plan stands on the road to Dolany. Another wayside shrine was erected in 1795 to commemorate a severe hailstorm. The commemoration is the main feature of the latter building, while the Baroque shrine is characterised by its style and floor plan. The two shrines therefore offer different perspectives on the village’s architectural history.

Sports and Events

The municipal sports grounds in the centre of Hlušovice include a tennis court, which can be rented using an online reservation form. Tennis is another specific leisure option in the village, alongside the cycling route and historic buildings.

Letní kino Hlušovice was held in 2024 and 2026 as an open-air cinema on the municipal sports grounds; refreshments were available at both editions. This cultural event adds another activity to the sports grounds, which also include a tennis court.

At the Drakiáda on 7 October 2023, activities included flying kites together, inflatable attractions for children, a kite trail, workshops and a puppet theatre. The Gulášfest on the same day featured goulash tastings, the selection of a winner and a raffle. The first event focused on kites and a varied programme of activities and performances, while the second centred on tastings and competition.
