Bystrovany lies in the Haná Plain, about six kilometres east of Olomouc. When looking for a holiday rental in Bystrovany, you can prioritise local attractions according to your interests: local history around the village square, walking and cycling routes, and tennis courts. This makes it possible to decide before planning whether culture, outdoor activities or sport should take centre stage during your stay.

Chapel and Village History

The Chapel of St Bartholomew stands in the middle of the village square and dates from 1887. In front of it is a stone cross, which was also consecrated in 1887. The chapel had already been consecrated before the cross. Both historic landmarks therefore date from the same year, but their consecrations did not take place at the same time.

Commemorative Ceremonies in May and December

Commemorative ceremonies in memory of the fallen American airmen are regularly held at the cross in May and December. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these ceremonies, check the exact date in advance. The months mentioned provide an initial guide for planning.

An Event Near the Cross

On 18 December 1944, seven American airmen lost their lives near the cross when a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, attacked by German fighter aircraft, crashed.

Riverside and Walking Trail

At the entrance to Bystrovany, there is a riverside park beside the Bystřice River. The yellow-marked walking trail starts at the Bělidla stop, follows Bystrovanská Street to the Bystřička River and continues along it to a children’s playground. The starting point, road section and destination give the route a clear course; check the route locally before setting out.

At the fire station by the Bystřička River, there is an information board for visitors and a place to rest. Those who want to find their bearings by the river or plan a break will find two specific stopping points there.

The river names distinguish the local routes: the riverside park and the Jantarová stezka are by the Bystřice; the walking trail, information board and place to rest are associated with the Bystřička.

Cycling Connection and Tennis

For cyclists, the Jantarová stezka follows the Bystřice upstream to Bystrovany. There it connects to cycle route 6103, which is linked to main cycle route 5. The two route options therefore differ in practical terms: the yellow-marked walking trail leads to the playground, while the named route connections are the main consideration when planning a cycling trip. Which option you choose depends on whether you would rather travel on foot or by bike.

The Bystrovany leisure, sports and education complex has tennis courts and operates year-round. Reservation and pricing details can change; check them if tennis is part of your plans. The sports facilities add another specific activity to your stay, complementing the historic landmarks and routes.
