Chotěbuz is a destination for travelers interested in archaeological sites and fortifications—and who also enjoy getting around by bike. Two cycling routes pass through the town. The cultural attractions range from an archaeological site and its reconstruction to three light fortification structures and a surviving Gothic tower. This means you can shape your visit around your interest in early settlements, buildings or outdoor activities.

Archaeological Site and Reconstructed Hillfort

The Chotěbuz-Podobora archaeological site is one of the most significant prehistoric and early medieval monuments in Cieszyn Silesia. It is located on a river terrace where a large, three-part hillfort once stood. The Olše originally flowed below it. This information places the site in its former landscape: the focus is a fortified settlement whose position on the terrace and historical relationship with the river are part of its historical setting.

The Chotěbuz-Podobora Archaeopark reconstructs the former hillfort. You can see fortifications, dwellings from the period, production facilities, a cult object and an ironworking furnace. This allows you to explore the archaeological site and the architectural reconstruction as two distinct ways of engaging with the subject. Interactive exhibitions cover the local archaeological site. There is also a ceramics workshop with a kiln and potter’s wheel, used for various school and public events. If you are interested in how an early settlement was built, you will find several specific structural elements here; the exhibitions focus specifically on the archaeological finds.

Light Fortifications and Gothic Tower

The Muzeum Československého lehkého opevnění Chotěbuz comprises three reconstructed Type vz. 37 light fortification structures. Each illustrates a different historical period. The three structures therefore offer a comparison between different periods, while the Hláska u zámku represents a single surviving building: the cylindrical stone tower is about 10 meters high and is the last surviving remnant of Chotěbuz’s Gothic fortifications from the 13th and 14th centuries. If you are interested in individual architectural forms, you can compare three reconstructed structures with a historic tower.

For school visits and excursions to the museum, other dates can also be arranged by prior agreement. Confirm the agreed date before traveling.

Cycling Routes and Horse Riding

Cycling route 6100 passes through Chotěbuz between Dolní Těrlicko and Albrechtice. Cycling route 10 also runs through the town; its stated destinations are Český Těšín, Karviná and Bohumín. You can use these different geographic references to plan your trip: route 6100 connects the stretch between Dolní Těrlicko and Albrechtice, while route 10 includes the named places Český Těšín, Karviná and Bohumín.

Stáj U Luka also offers activities related to horse riding. The facility includes two outdoor riding arenas, one sand arena and one sand arena with geotextile, measuring 4,000 m². The riding hall measures 70 × 24 meters and has show-jumping equipment. The activities on offer include rides in the surrounding area and carriage rides, as well as sleigh rides in winter. If you are planning one of these activities, check availability directly in advance. This keeps your plans tied to the dates actually offered, especially for seasonal sleigh rides.
