Řepiště brings remarkable religious buildings together with local history that can also be traced through paths and individual chapels. The church belongs to a highly distinguished group of Silesian wooden churches. Two cycling routes also pass through the village. Depending on whether you are interested in architecture, historic routes or cycling, you will find different points of interest for your stay here.

Wooden Church and Chapels

The Chapel of St Anthony of Padua stands by the forest on Jezdecká Street. It is small and white-plastered; its square floor plan and Baroque influences give it a distinctive architectural form. It was built before 1836. Its design, stylistic features and early date make the chapel a specific destination for anyone interested in the village’s architectural history.

The chapel on Salt Road offers another historical connection. It stands in the Vinohrady district on Solná Street, which forms part of the historic “Salt Road.” Both the street name and the traditional association with the route are important for orientation. The chapel is accessible to pedestrians via a footpath; check local conditions before your visit.

The Chapel of St Florian is on Zemědělská Street, near the “U Kříže” bus stop in the direction of Sedliště. Inside the chapel is a gallery of 30 ceramic figures of St Florian. Children from Řepiště made the figures during a ceramics course at the local primary school. The local origin of the works is as much a part of the gallery’s story as their shared subject.

Forest Path, Local History and Landscape

The chapel on Lesní Street is also connected with a path: it lies on a forest path linking Řepiště with the Rakovec district. In the past, parishioners from Rakovec used this forest path for processions to Hájek, a pilgrimage site in Lískovec. Their destination was the May devotions at the Frýdek Madonna. These processions are part of the path’s historical use; they are not a current events programme.

Geology offers another perspective on the landscape. The Řepiště–Vinohrady locality is designated as a site where Těšínite is found, within the Silesian Unit of the Outer Western Carpathians. In Řepiště, religious buildings and historic paths sit alongside the geological classification of the locality. When deciding what interests to pursue during a stay, you can choose between cultural history and landscape topics.

Understanding Cycling Routes and Fare Zones

Cycling Route 6065 passes through Řepiště between Paskov and Sedliště. Long-distance Cycling Route 59 Ostrava–Beskydy also runs through the village. The two route names offer different points of reference: Route 6065 places Řepiště on the stretch between Paskov and Sedliště, while Route 59 is named as the Ostrava–Beskydy long-distance cycling route. Check the route and local conditions before setting out.

For fare-zone information, the map’s date is important: the ODIS fare-zone map, marked as valid from 14 December 2025, places Paskov, Řepiště and Vratimov in fare zone 18. Check before travelling whether this fare-zone allocation is still valid. This allows you to consider the cycling routes and fare information separately, without drawing conclusions about specific connections from the zone map.
