Near Pitárné, the Petrovický potok and the Mušlov meet; from this confluence onward, the river is called the Osoblaha. This change provides a specific geographical reference point for Vysoká. The area also features churches from the 18th century, historical landmarks, a distinctive hill and hiking trails with different destinations. When planning your stay, you can distinguish between sacred architecture, individual historical sites and nature or hiking themes.

Landscape and local landmarks

Vysoká lies in the Zlatohorská vrchovina geomorphological unit. The municipality’s highest point is Stráž, a 494 m-high hill above Pitárné. The elevation and its location relative to Pitárné provide a clear reference point in the landscape.

East of Vysoká are erratic boulders considered a natural attraction. The remains of a 15th-century fortress lie in the western part of Vysoká. This brings a natural feature and a historical landmark into view in different parts of the municipality.

Churches from two different periods

The single-nave Baroque cemetery church of St. Urban in Vysoká was built in 1767. “Single-nave” describes a church interior with one main nave; the Baroque designation adds a stylistic classification to this architectural description.

In Pitárné, the parish church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary dates from 1776. The two churches can be distinguished by location, function and date of construction: St. Urban is a cemetery church, while the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a parish church. They were built nine years apart.

Historical landmarks in Bartultovice

The Radvanského kámen in Bartultovice is a gravestone dating from 1760. Also in Bartultovice, near house no. 43, is a wayside shrine dedicated to St. Florian, dating from the 18th century. The two landmarks differ in form and in the precision of their dating: a specific year is given for the gravestone, while the shrine is dated to the century. Together, they show two different kinds of historical memorial in the same village.

Hiking trails from Pitárné

The blue hiking trail leads from Pitárné past the observation towers on the heights of Strážnice and Hraniční vrch to Město Albrechtice. A green hiking trail leads from Pitárné around Dívčí Hrad to Bohušov. The routes differ both in their destinations and in their landmarks: the blue route passes two observation towers, while the green route goes around Dívčí Hrad.

Hiking trails also lead from Pitárné through the Osoblažský výběžek. This more general information complements the two routes described in detail. As trail availability and markings can change, check the current route before setting out.
