As a travel destination, Pertoltice Pod Ralskem brings together hiking, protected nature and cultural history. A marked yellow hiking trail runs through the municipality from Vranov via SrnĂ Potok to the railway station; the Chapel of St Prokop and the column with the statue of the Immaculata also provide specific historical points of interest. When choosing the destination, you can first decide whether to focus on the trails and landscape or on the history of individual monuments.

Hiking Trails and Landscape

In the municipality of Pertoltice Pod Ralskem, the Natura 2000 site EVL Horní Ploučnice includes the course of the Ploučnice and Panenský potok rivers and the surrounding area. The area around Strážný vrch also includes the specially protected Natura 2000 site EVL Horní Ploučnice. Animal and plant species, as well as natural habitat types, are protected there. The nature-related features therefore range from named waterways and their surroundings to the protection of specific species and habitat types.

Jeskyně Pekárnička is a small niche cave in a red sandstone rock on a meadow below Strážný vrch. As an individual rock formation, it offers a different focus from the river courses and the protected area. The cave is still used for picnics. As local conditions may change, check on site whether picnics are possible during your visit.

When hiking, distinguish between the two routes described. The marked yellow hiking trail runs through the municipality from Vranov via Srní Potok to the railway station. Another hiking route connects Vranov, Pertoltice Pod Ralskem and Zákupy; the municipal plan lists it as completed. You can tell the routes apart by their different reference points: the first mentions Srní Potok and the railway station, while the second connects the three places. Check the trail markings and accessibility on site.

The Chapel and Marian Column

The Chapel of St Prokop is open to the public and offers a quiet place for reflection. After 1990, its roof, exterior plaster and interior furnishings were renovated. Check opening hours before your visit.

The column with the statue of the Immaculata was erected in 1720 at the expense of the farmer Michael Ullrich. It was restored in 2009, and the statue of Mary was placed back on the column. The column is freely accessible; check access conditions on site. The dates give each monument its own historical context: for the column, the focus is on its construction and restoration; for the chapel, on its renovation after 1990. Visiting arrangements differ: check the chapel’s opening hours, and check access conditions for the column on site.
