Souvrať is an agricultural settlement with scattered rural development. Two themes shape travel planning: historic structures and memorials, and hiking descriptions with different destinations. Sandstone crosses are a key feature in Souvrať and Dvořačky; the St. Anne’s Cemetery Chapel is also nearby. One hiking route passes through Souvrať to Mostek, while another includes the Les Království Reservoir. This gives you a choice between local history and hiking as different focuses for your stay.

Sandstone Crosses, Chapel and Local History

A cross in Souvrať stands on a sandstone plinth and bears a relief of Our Lady of Sorrows, dated 1793. The tall sandstone cross in Souvrať is made of white sandstone. Its niche contains a relief of the Virgin Mary; a relief on the lower part of the plinth depicts the view into the Holy Sepulchre. Biblical texts are inscribed on the sides of the plinth. The Marian motif, plinth relief and inscriptions are different details that reveal the religious imagery of the crosses.

The sandstone cross in Dvořačky dates from the late 19th century and bears the signature of the sculptor G. Staffa. The St. Anne’s Cemetery Chapel, a historicist building from the early 20th century, is located near Souvrať. In 1909, Countess Anna Deymová donated the land for the cemetery and chapel on the road from Mostek to Souvrať. The year refers to the donation of the land; the chapel itself is classified as a building from the early 20th century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Souvrať was an administrative municipality for Mostek and the surrounding settlements of Josefská Výšina and Dvořařky. At that time, Souvrať had a municipal office and a school. This former administrative role adds another aspect to the local history of buildings and crosses.

Hikes Towards Mostek and the Reservoir

A hiking route described in 2007 passes through Souvrať and continues to Mostek. It follows forest and meadow paths through a landscape dotted with foothills-of-the-Krkonoše cottages. The route description thus connects the way to Mostek with a rural landscape. As the description is older, check the current route and conditions before setting out.

Another hiking route near Souvrať was also described in 2007. It allows for a detour to the Les Království Reservoir of about 6 km; the return to Souvrať is along the same route. The choice of destination sets this plan apart from the route through Souvrať to Mostek: here, the detour and return along the same route go together. The distance is approximate. Check current trail conditions before planning this hike, too.

A route description from 2007 mentions taking a bus or train from Dvůr Králové to return to Mostek. Check current connections and timetables before including this option in your plans.
