At Safari Park Dvůr Králové, you can drive your own car among African animals. The range of experiences spans other safari options, cultural landmarks, nature trails, and cycling and water activities. For planning purposes, the specific experiences and route lengths are more useful than the idea of a single, fixed itinerary.

Safari, Cycling and Water

At Safari Park Dvůr Králové, visitors can experience the “Josef Vágner African Safari” and the “Lion Safari” in an Africa Truck, safari bus, or their own car. Some safari options operate seasonally, so check which option is available for your travel dates before you set out. The vehicle safari is a loop of about 5.5 kilometres. Driving your own car offers the opportunity to drive among African animals in the Czech Republic.

Cycling and water activities also offer their own distinctive experiences. Jedu Labe rents rafts and canoes for trips on the Elbe. In Žireč, the bicycle exhibition displays historic bicycles and velocipedes, including bikes from the First Republic, as well as military and racing bicycles. Visitors can try a penny-farthing trainer there or rent a rickshaw for a ride through the park. The Elbe Cycle Route also passes through the Baroque complex in Žireč. The cycling attractions therefore focus on both historic exhibits and hands-on activities, as well as a designated route.

Tyršovo koupaliště has a 50-metre swimming pool. It operates seasonally, so check the season dates before visiting. This makes it easier to fit the option into your schedule without assuming it is available year-round.

Cultural History on Foot and in the Museum

The historical exhibition at Městské muzeum Dvůr Králové nad Labem covers the history of the town and the textile industry of the Královédvorsko region. Two building periods meet at the Church of St John the Baptist: the Gothic church was built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church.

The 1.7-kilometre town walk takes you to historically significant places in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. Its stops include the Davidova hvězda memorial at the site of the former Jewish synagogue. A longer historical route, the Bitva u Dvora Králové nad Labem educational trail, focuses on the street fighting between Austrian and Prussian troops in 1866. It is 29 kilometres long and has 16 stops and two detours. The figures illustrate the different distances of the two options: the town walk is 1.7 kilometres long, while the educational trail is 29 kilometres.

Another cultural activity is a tour of the Christmas ornament factory. Visitors can learn how Christmas ornaments are blown and decorated by hand. This adds a hands-on craft experience to the historical attractions, without centring on another walking route.

Nature Trails and Routes of Varying Lengths

The Parkem Schulzovy sady educational trail runs through the Schulzovy sady town park and is more than 750 metres long. Interactive features share information about Czech wildlife and plant life. The route is suitable for walks with a stroller and for school trips. In addition to its nature focus, its suitability for particular types of visits is also noted.

Na Felčarské cestě, a two-kilometre loop starts at the lower gate of the town cemetery, follows the cemetery to the “U Landů” forester’s lodge, and returns through the forest to the starting point. Ten stops with educational and interactive features enhance the route. Visitors will find a different kind of route on the Údolím Hartského potoka nature trail: it is less than two kilometres long and starts at the gate of the municipal hospital. Information boards, games, a jumping pit, and a seating area by a fire pit are among its stops and facilities.

The Na Stráni educational trail uses information boards and interactive features to explain which animals and plants live in the forest and surrounding area, and how to behave in nature. For those who would rather choose from several routes, Stezky Dvorem a okolím offers eight routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels. They are intended for walks, dog walking, running, and family outings with a stroller. The accompanying map shows the routes with elevation profiles and QR codes, and includes recommendations on how suitable they are for walking in hot summer weather and after rain.

Conditions on nature trails can change; check them before setting out. This helps you choose among the different routes and themes to suit your planned visit.
