Stolin brings together a range of travel interests and specific local features: a chapel and a stone cross stand on the village green, while a monument and a planted tree commemorate the village’s history at other locations. The Stolínský potok adds small waterfalls and rapids to the landscape; a blue-marked hiking route also passes through Stolín. When planning your trip, you can therefore distinguish between individual cultural and memorial sites and a hike with a specified total distance.

Village Green and Memorial Sites

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in the middle of Stolín’s village green, on the east side of the main road. There is also a stone cross on the green. These can be viewed as separate religious landmarks: the chapel is clearly identified by its name, while the cross stands on the green as a stone marker. If you are interested in the features and named places of a village, you will find two distinct points of interest here, without confusing one with the other.

Another memorial site is the monument to those who fell in the First World War. It stands beside house No. 70 and the fire station, dates from 1936, and was created by Josef Řezníček, a sculptor and stonemason from Mezilečí. Its historical connection and creator are both identified. The Lípa Svobody in Stolín adds a different date to these specific details: it was planted in 1919. The monument and the tree represent different forms of remembrance; their dates help place each site in its historical context.

Waterways and a Historic Building

The Stolínský potok is another feature in its own right. It has numerous small waterfalls and rapids. This offers a different perspective on the locality from the chapel, the cross or the war memorial: here, the focus is on the watercourse and the shape of the terrain. There is also a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk at a water reservoir in Stolín. Its position by the reservoir connects another named work of art with a specific association with water, without equating it with the course of the stream.

Near the Boušín footbridge over the Úpa is a former estate forester’s lodge dating from 1876. The Stolínský potok is connected with this location too: it flows into the Úpa by the former forester’s lodge. A historic building, a footbridge over the river and the confluence of two waterways thus serve as distinct points of reference here. The building remains a former forester’s lodge; the year 1876 is part of its history.

The Hiking Route Through Stolín

A blue-marked route is described for walking. It runs from Červená Hora via Mstětín and Stolín to U Dupačky and is 14.5 kilometres long in total. Stolín lies along the route between the named starting point and destination; the kilometre figure refers to the entire route. This distinction is useful when incorporating the walk into your travel plans: the stated distance does not apply only to a section within Stolín.

The trail markings and the sequence of places give the route a clear course. At the same time, you should check the markings and trail conditions locally, as recommended for this route. No walking time is given, so the total distance alone does not allow a specific itinerary to be worked out. This leaves two clearly distinct options to choose between: the named village and memorial sites, or the blue-marked hike through Stolín. Which one interests you more can help you decide whether to consider Stolin when planning your trip.
