The Trnávka flows into the Úlibický potok in Kacákova Lhota. At this point, the Úlibický potok roughly divides the municipality into Kacákova Lhota and Náchodsko. This landscape relationship shapes the view of the local geography. Buildings and leisure activities add to the picture: these include a relocated barn, the cellars of Náchodský dvůr, a preserved mill and a natural swimming pool. Two events from 2026 add cultural highlights with different seasonal significance.
Building history and memorials
A barn stands by the local open-air swimming pool, its history connecting two places. It was built in 1881 as part of a farm complex in Ostružno that no longer exists. The barn has been protected since June 30, 1993. In 1996, it was moved from Ostružno to Kacákova Lhota and rebuilt by the swimming pool. The dates mark distinct stages: construction in Ostružno in 1881, and relocation and reconstruction in Kacákova Lhota in 1996.
The first documented mention of the founding of Kacákova Lhota is dated to 1546. The cellars of Náchodský dvůr are considered the oldest surviving structure in the village; their construction is dated to the first half of the 17th century. Thus, an early mention of the village's founding stands alongside a later date for a surviving structure. Several memorial crosses and wayside shrines stand in the village. A crucifix with an enclosure is listed as an immovable cultural monument in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic; its restoration was completed in autumn 2025. The listing and restoration refer to different aspects: its monument status and a more recent, completed restoration.
Waterways and leisure
The waterways add a distinctive feature alongside the buildings. A preserved mill stands on the Mlýnský potok; the millrace is fed by the Úlibický potok. The Úlibický potok connects these water features: it receives the Trnávka and also feeds the millrace. The practical distinction is also important for planning: the mill is not open to visitors, while the natural swimming pool is available for leisure activities.
Masopust and Morana in 2026
During the traditional Masopust in February 2026, a procession featuring numerous original masks and live music passed through the entire municipality. At the end of the procession, a pig slaughter feast was held at the local inn. At the Morana event on March 22, 2026, winter was bid farewell and spring welcomed. The two dated events differ both in timing and in significance: the Masopust in February combined a procession, masks and music, while Morana at the end of March marked the farewell to winter and the welcome of spring.
