In Červená Třemešná, different travel interests come together around specific features: a protected body of water of regional importance for amphibians, named routes, and a church and sandstone statue as cultural landmarks. For your planning, it is worth considering these highlights separately. This will help you decide whether to focus your trip on nature, cultural heritage, or the route options.

Natural Monument and Amphibians

Červená Třemešná – rybník is a 9.41-hectare natural monument. The protected body of water is of regional importance for amphibians, particularly populations of the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) and the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina). The nature-related focus of the area is therefore clearly defined: it centres on a specific protected area and its importance for these species. If you are weighing nature and cultural heritage as themes for your trip, the body of water offers a distinct focus alongside the historic buildings and works of art.

Distinguishing the Educational Trail from the Cycling Route

An information board for the educational trail “Po stopách Karla Jaromíra Erbena” is located in front of the Church of St. James and Andrew. The 14 km educational trail runs from Miletín via Červená Třemešná, Vrbiny, Byšičky, the Rybník Hluboký and Nadýmák ponds, Vlkanov, and Miletínek, then back to Miletín. Returning to Miletín is a useful distinction from a route with a different starting and ending point. You should check the educational trail details locally before setting out.

Marked cycling route No. 4135 also passes through Červená Třemešná. Its approximately 35 km route runs from Mostek via Pecka Castle, Vřesník, Lázně Bělohrad, and Byšičky, through the village and U Jeníkova, to Boháňka. The two routes differ in both their stated length and course: the educational trail returns to Miletín, while the cycling route runs from Mostek to Boháňka. The cycling route’s length is approximate; you should also check its details locally before setting off.

Church and Monument in the Village Centre

The single-nave late Gothic Church of St. James and Andrew was first mentioned in 1358. This year marks its first recorded mention, not a stated construction date. The educational trail information board stands in front of the church; the centre of Červená Třemešná is also home to a sandstone statue of Saint Wenceslas, a monument of local significance. Together, the church and statue offer two distinct ways to explore the area’s cultural heritage: the architecture of a religious building and an independent work of sandstone sculpture.

Plan Your Journey and Choose a Suitable Base

Buses operated by the Královéhradecký and Pardubický kraj Integrated Regional Transport system (IREDO) connect the Červená Třemešná area with Miletín, Hořice, and Dvůr Králové nad Labem on weekdays. If you are planning to travel by bus, check the current timetable before departure.

There is no rail service in the Červená Třemešná area. The nearest railway station is outside the area in Hořice, about 5 km south of the area, on line No. 041 from Turnov via Jičín and Ostroměř to Hradec Králové. This distance refers to the area, not to the village centre.

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide which focus matters most for your trip: the natural monument, the cultural sites, or one of the named routes. Then coordinate your plans with the route information and, if travelling by bus, the weekday connections. This way, choosing accommodation remains part of your trip planning without combining different destinations into a single route.
