The 15-metre-high observation tower, a historic route about six kilometres long and local events offer different ways to plan a stay in Libníkovice. Depending on whether you are interested in local history, outdoor activities or an event programme, you can focus your search for a holiday apartment differently.
Observation Tower and the History of the Site
Rozhledna Libníkovice opened on 12 July 1930. A historic lime tree had previously stood on the same site, but was destroyed by lightning; the observation tower replaced it. Its year of construction, height and history give a visit a tangible historical context. The tower is freely accessible. Check the access conditions before your visit, as they may change.
Historic Routes on Foot and by Bike
For the 12 September 2026 edition of the Historical Route through Libníkovice, a route about six kilometres long through Libníkovice and its districts was planned. It was designated for pedestrians, cyclists, families with children and people with pushchairs. The approximate length helps you gauge the outing; the actual time required also depends on how you want to travel along the route.
For this edition, participants could set off from Klub Libníkovice between 1 pm and 5 pm. Refreshments were available there from 1 pm to 9 pm. These times refer to 12 September 2026 and give an impression of how the event ran then, not of future dates.
Routes for bike rides are also indicated: at the cycle-route junction by the Libníkovice observation tower station, KČT cycle route 4257 heads towards Piletice, Slatina, Librantice and Jílovice. KČT cycle route 4166 heads towards Výrava, Smržov and Smiřice. Check the signs on site before setting off.
Events and Their Dates
Stezka odvahy takes place annually as part of Tradiční opékání. At an edition announced for 2026, children and adults were due to meet at Klub Libníkovice at 7:30 pm; participants were allowed to bring one accompanying person. If you want to plan your stay around this event, check the date and programme for the relevant year's edition.
Velikonoční tvoření is a different kind of event: the 2024 programme included weaving rods for the Pomlázka, decorating Easter eggs using various techniques and making Easter decorations from birch branches. Alongside the routes and observation tower, it is a concrete example of a local craft programme.
More Traces of Local History
The wooden column-style bell tower was built in 1874; its predecessor dated from 1812. In the 20th century, the bell tower was replaced by a metal structure. On the western side of Libníkovice, a stone cross replaced a wooden cross that had previously stood there in 1921. If you visit these historic structures, check their current condition when you arrive.
These themes can offer different ways to choose a holiday apartment: local history can be explored through the observation tower, bell tower and cross; those who want to focus on outdoor activities can use the historic route or the cycle routes mentioned above as a guide. For a trip centred on an event, the dates and times for that particular edition are key.
