Nehvizdy combines a clear historical theme with practical opportunities for sports and dance. When planning a stay, you can first decide whether St. Wenceslas and the Anthropoid Memorial or sporting and dance activities should be the main focus.

St. Wenceslas and the Historical Heritage

The small parish church of St. Wenceslas is documented as a parish church from 1361. Its original structure is dated to the end of the 13th century and classified as Romanesque or Early Gothic. The construction date and the record of its status as a parish church answer different questions: one places the building in its historical and architectural context, while the other attests to its long-standing role as a parish church. Visitors interested in historic churches can therefore focus on both its early architectural style and its parish history in Nehvizdy.

The church precinct is the most significant surviving part of Nehvizdy’s historical cultural heritage. It is therefore the clear focal point for a visit centred on culture and history.

The Anthropoid Memorial

The memorial to the parachute drop of Operation Anthropoid stands on U Hřbitova Street near Nehvizdy’s sports complex. The site is easily accessible to visitors; check local conditions before your visit. The sandstone monument is shaped like a parachute. Three bronze rods, or parachute cords, bear the names of the paratroopers and the title of their mission. Its shape and inscriptions make the connection to the parachute drop immediately clear: the motif is visible in the silhouette, while the inscriptions specifically name the paratroopers and their mission. The location can be approached via the street or the nearby sports complex; the memorial and sports facilities remain distinct points of interest.

Sports and Dance in Nehvizdy

The Nehvizdy sports complex has an athletics track, a football pitch, a beach volleyball court and tennis courts. The facilities cater to a range of sports, so when planning your visit you can start with the particular activity that interests you.

According to the club, Sokol Nehvizdy rents out its tennis complex to the general public during the summer months; check whether it is available on your planned visit date. A 2026 report notes that the courts were renovated in 2025, resurfaced with artificial material and fitted with a new fence; the report also describes them as being used extensively. The seasonal rentals and the improvements answer different questions: one concerns when you might be able to visit, the other the facilities available at the tennis courts.

The DIGA dance school offers the public classes in classical and modern dance, flamenco, dance gymnastics, Czech folk dance, hip-hop and musical theatre dance, with a particular focus on children and young people. A registration and class schedule is available for 2026/27. If you would like to include a particular class in your stay, use the listed dates as a planning guide and check whether you can take part.
