Květnice lies east of Prague in a flat landscape, on both banks of the Výmola stream. Its connections to water, architectural history and cultural events give the village several distinct facets: from a pond on the stream to a stone bridge, a mill complex, a fortress, events and open-air cinema. Květnice is therefore of interest to travelers who want to explore waterscapes, architectural history and changing cultural offerings in one destination.

Water and location

The Výmola stream shapes the village’s location: Květnice lies on both banks in a flat landscape east of Prague. North of the historic built-up area is Mlýnský rybník, a flow-through pond on the Výmola at river kilometer 2.08. This describes two aspects of the area’s connection to water: the stream as part of the village’s location and the pond as a specific place north of the historic built-up area.

Bridge, fortress and mill

The stone bridge at the corner of K Dobročovicům and Ke Tvrzi streets carries a local road over the Výmola. It connects the area’s relationship with water to a specific road function in the village. The fortress of Květnice was probably built around 1390, providing another, historic reference point in the village.

The Květnický Mill complex is connected to Mlýnský rybník and includes a farmyard and a villa dating from the interwar period. Compared with the fortress, probably built around 1390, the villa belongs to a much more recent period of construction. The farmyard and villa are two named components of the same complex; its connection to the pond adds a landscape dimension to this architectural picture. This comparison helps show that the village’s history cannot be reduced to a single era: the fortress and villa date from very different periods, while the mill complex also connects the farmyard with the pond.

Culture for every occasion

The Nadační fond Květnický mlýn (Květnický Mill Foundation) organizes concerts and other cultural events in Květnice. As the program may vary, check specific dates before traveling if you want to plan your stay around a particular event.

The open-air cinema offers a different kind of cultural experience: the program includes family films, Czech classics and new releases, with the selection changing each season. For a concert or another event, the date is the main consideration; at the open-air cinema, the film selection for the season also matters. This is a practical distinction when planning, as you can choose between a specific event and a seasonal film program.

Multifunctional sports court: check the hours

The multifunctional sports court is another practical consideration when planning your visit. At its opening on March 27, 2026, it was open to the public; regular use was free of charge. Seasonal opening hours were planned for the court starting April 1, 2026: from 08:00 to 22:00 from April 1 to September 30, and from 10:00 to 20:00 from October 1 to March 31. According to the plan, from April to September the court would open two hours earlier in the morning and close two hours later in the evening than from October to March. Check the current opening hours and conditions of use before your visit.
