Jevanský Pond is Jevany’s largest local body of water and a place to relax in summer. The area also features protected habitats and historical traces in Aldašín and the centre of Jevany. If you are planning a stay, these different themes can help you choose what to focus on: water, nature or local history.

Relaxation at Jevanský Pond

Jevanský Pond covers 17.62 hectares. It is used for recreation in summer, and informal swimming is possible. The banks are grassy, and the entry into the water is sandy. If being near the water is important to you during your stay, these details describe the swimming conditions more specifically than simply referring to a pond: what matters here is the informal swimming option and the shape of the banks. As recreational conditions can change, it is a good idea to check the situation before your visit.

Protected Nature and Wetland Habitats

Part of the Voděradské Bučiny Nature Reserve lies within the cadastral area of Jevany. Voděradské Bučiny is designated a national nature reserve; its purpose is to protect an extensive beech forest. Thus, alongside the water, the protection of a large beech forest is also one of Jevany’s nature-related features.

The Šáchovec site comprises a waterlogged sedge meadow with hummocks and submerged aquatic vegetation. This means a wet habitat with sedges, small raised areas and plants growing underwater. This is a different nature-related feature from the beech forest: here, the focus is on moisture and aquatic vegetation. Šáchovec can be reached via the red-marked hiking trail from Kostelec nad Černými lesy to Senohraby. As access via marked trails can change, check the trail conditions locally before setting out.

Aldašín and the History of Jevany

Aldašín lies within the cadastral area of Jevany and is an important archaeological site. Remains of buildings, other features of the former settlement and traces of vanished medieval routes have been preserved there. The church dedicated to Saint George also still stands. The historical evidence therefore relates to different elements of the former settlement: building remains, routes and the church.

In the centre of Jevany stands a bell tower built in 1897, considered one of the town’s symbols. It offers a different historical connection from Aldašín: here, a specific year of construction is known, and the tower has a symbolic role for the town. Together, these themes show different points of connection in time and place without combining them into a single story.

Choose What to Focus On

The contrast is useful for planning: the pond offers summer recreation, Šáchovec is a wetland habitat, and Aldašín preserves archaeological traces; the bell tower is a dated building with symbolic significance. This allows you to plan your stay around water, nature or history.
