Tochovice can be explored through several clearly distinct themes: a church with a Gothic portal, a Baroque chapel, traces of gold panning and a cycling route. There is also a chateau that is not open to the public and a railway exhibition in preparation. When choosing where to stay, the main consideration is whether you want to focus on historic buildings, routes or archaeological traces.

Church, chapel and chateau

The Church of St Martin is considered the oldest monument in Tochovice. A parish church already stood here in 1331; from 1356, it served as the parish church. The building still preserves a Gothic portal and old tombstones. A new nave and a tall tower were added between 1899 and 1904. The church therefore brings together distinct historical periods: its early parish history, Gothic elements and later extensions.

The small Baroque Chapel of St Anne stands on the road to Březnice. It was built before the mid-18th century and was already used for devotions before 1780. In 2013, the municipality of Tochovice restored the chapel. St Martin thus tells the story of a long parish history and several building phases; at St Anne, the Baroque period, early use and restoration shape its character.

At one end of Tochovice, a chateau lies within an extensive English-style park, while the cemetery church stands at the other. Tochovice Chateau is a two-winged, single-storey Empire-style building with a façade facing the English-style park. The chateau and park are privately owned and not open to the public. This is an important distinction from the historical themes that can be explored through the churches and chapel.

Cycling route and traces in the landscape

Cycling route 8212 runs through Třebsko, Tochovice, Stará Voda, Hořejany, Tušovice, Svojšice and Řeteč. This sequence of places puts Tochovice on a route through several named localities. A geocaching route also follows the former Orlík branch railway line. The cycling route and the geocaching route therefore offer different ways to include Tochovice and its surroundings in your travel plans.

The Tochovický kros is a seven-kilometre autumn run through the wooded Džbány valley. Following the Lázský stream, the course passes the Džbánek ponds and wetlands, goes by the watermill in Podrejží and the former mining settlement of Kamenná, then returns to Tochovice. The difference is clear for planning purposes: cycling route 8212 passes through a succession of places, while the kros is a seven-kilometre course that returns to Tochovice.

Along the Lázský stream near the Podrejží mill are the so-called rýžovnické sejpy, the remains of medieval and early modern gold panning. This theme also shapes descriptions of the landscape beyond Podrejží. The Celtic sanctuary of Keltské hradiště Třebsko II lies on the slope of Holý vrch above Podrejží. Almost nothing remains in the terrain of the contemporary rectangular ramparts; only a distinct break in the slope on the northeast side of the outline is visible.

Sculpture and railway exhibition

The sculpture Živá voda now stands in the park by Nové bytovky. It is a work by academic sculptor Jan Pichl (*1935). The railway exhibition U Kolejí, which is in preparation, is located at Tochovice No. 87 beside Tochovice zastávka station. Visitors and passers-by can ring the bell so Dan Suk can show them around the exhibition. It is described as an exhibition in preparation, not as an established museum.

Tochovice railway station is also a useful local landmark: it lies on Line 200 between Beroun and Protivín, which runs via Praha and České Budějovice. Together with the cycling route, historic buildings and traces in the landscape, it offers a multifaceted view of the area. Which aspect you prioritise when choosing a holiday apartment in Tochovice depends on whether you are more interested in architectural history, cycling routes or archaeological traces.
