The Kocába River flows through Rybníky. Two marked hiking trails offer different directions for exploring the area: one runs along the western edge of the municipality, while the other leads from Dobříš into the municipality and continues northeast through the Kocába valley. Together with the religious buildings, they give the area a clear travel profile, combining landscape and architectural history. If you are looking for accommodation, you can first decide which of these themes you would like to focus on during your stay.

Hiking between the western edge and the Kocába valley

The red-marked hiking trail runs along the western edge of the municipality of Rybníky. It leads from Strž near Staré Huti and the Karel Čapek Memorial via Budínek and Budín to Daleké Dušníky, and continues to Nečín. The sequence of places provides a clear geographical reference for the route.

The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Dobříš through Josefovo údolí into the municipality of Rybníky, then continues northeast through the Kocába valley. The two routes can be distinguished by their starting points and directions: the red trail focuses on the western edge and several named stops, while the yellow trail connects to Dobříš and continues through the valley.

The connection with the waterway is also apparent at two different scales: the Kocába flows through Rybníky, while the yellow trail runs through the Kocába valley. This allows you to consider the river’s course through the village and the geographical setting of the hiking route separately when planning your trip.

Religious buildings and architectural history

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a compact structure with a rectangular floor plan, a polygonal presbytery, and elaborate Rondocubist detailing. The protected site also includes a cast-iron cross west of the chapel and the associated land. Two details are important for its geographical location: the chapel lies on the western edge of the cadastral area and municipality of Rybníky; physically, it stands on the eastern edge of Budínek, on the road between Budínek and Rybníky.

The Evangelical Church in Rybníky was built in 1847 and ceremonially opened on September 28 of that year. The Neoclassical building has a small tower and a barrel-vaulted roof. Comparing the styles highlights the difference between Rondocubism and Neoclassicism: the chapel stands out for its elaborate detailing, while the church is distinguished by its combination of a tower and a vaulted roof.

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is located in Rybníky. Regular services are not held there. Since church regulations may change, check the latest information if you are interested.

Plan your journey and accommodation

Rybníky is served by regular bus line 303 054 (D54), which runs between Dobříš, Drevníky, and Županovice. Check the latest departure times before you travel. Road II/119 is the main road connection from Dobříš southeast into the cadastral area of Rybníky. The bus line and the road provide different information for your journey: the bus line names three places, while the road connection indicates the direction into the cadastral area.

If hiking is your main focus, the different directions of the marked trails are a useful point of reference. If you plan to use the bus, check the departure times in advance. This will help you choose a holiday apartment that suits your itinerary and travel arrangements.
