Jinočany is a place with two very different building histories: the chapel, built as a fire brigade bell tower, and a stone wayside cross. The Vintířova Trail also passes through the village. Pond uses and travel options round out these themes. During your stay, you can choose to focus on local history, the route or the ponds.

The chapel and wayside cross: two stories

The Jinočanský kříž is a stone wayside cross made of Lochkov marble and orthoceras limestone. It dates from 1862 and was probably created by a local stonemason. Its location is also part of its story: the cross was moved from a busy crossroads to a quiet spot beside the chapel in the village centre. In this way, the monument’s origins are connected with a change in its location.

The Jinočanská kaplička was built in 1903 as a fire brigade bell tower and was intended primarily as a functional building, not a religious one. Its main purpose was to serve as a fire station for the fire brigade association, which had been founded the year before. The name “chapel” alone therefore does not fully describe its original function. From 2007, it was used again for weddings, welcoming new residents and other festive occasions. If you are planning a ceremony there, confirm availability with the municipality.

Another historical point of interest is the Škroby mine southwest of Jinočany.

Ponds and seasonal activities

Mirešický rybník, also known as Malý rybník, serves as a multi-purpose pond or reservoir. Fishing takes place at Mirešák Pond near the Mirešice estate. Swimming is also possible there in summer. If you want to fish, check the current participation requirements on site. For swimming, it is advisable to check the latest safety and access conditions before your visit.

The Vintířova Trail through Jinočany

The Vintířova Trail passes through Jinočany to the abandoned village of Krteň. The renovated Krteňská cesta then continues towards Stodůlky and Řepy. The new section of the Vintířova Trail is 136 kilometres long and can be divided into six stages. Dividing it into stages makes the longer route more manageable; the section that passes through Jinočany and the length of the entire new section are different planning considerations. Divided evenly, 136 kilometres would work out to around 22.7 kilometres per stage; the actual division may differ.

Plan your journey

You can reach Jinočany by bus routes 309 and 310 from Zličín, and by route 352 from Luka. Another option is to take the train from Smíchovské nádraží station towards Beroun. Check current timetables and routes before travelling, especially if your day’s plans depend on a particular connection.
