You can walk or cycle down through the Zlončická Gorge to the Vltava; there, you can connect to a hiking route or a cycling route. This section therefore combines two ways of travelling, each with its own connection at the river: hikers meet a hiking route, and cyclists a cycling route.
Nature and Landscape
The Zlončická Gorge is a natural biocorridor and a protected landscape area within Dolní Povltaví Nature Park; rare plants grow there. This conservation perspective adds another reason to appreciate the natural area alongside choosing a route through it: the focus is not only on crossing it, but also on its ecological function and plant life.
Hlaváčková stráň has a different conservation focus. It protects dry grassland and rocky steppe habitats, home to notable representatives of the heat-loving steppe and forest-steppe flora and fauna. The Zlončická Gorge is a natural biocorridor and a protected landscape area where rare plants grow; in contrast, Hlaváčková stráň focuses on dry grassland and rocky steppe habitats and notable representatives of the heat-loving steppe and forest-steppe flora and fauna.
Trails and Activities
There is a specific route reference for cyclists: cycling route 8272 is signposted at the “Zlončice, rozcestí” trail marker and leads towards Chvatěruby and Postřižín. If you follow these signs, check the current route markings and trail conditions before setting out, as both may change. The connection through the gorge leads down to the Vltava; cycling route 8272, by contrast, points towards Chvatěruby and Postřižín.
Stáj Dolánky offers riding exercises for young children and individual riding instruction. The options also include rides along the river and on country lanes in the area around Zlončice. This gives you a choice of different types of riding: exercises and instruction on the one hand, and rides on the other. If you plan to take part in any of these activities, confirm the arrangements and availability before your visit.
Village Square and Annual Event
The Zlončice well is in the recreational area at the municipal office on the village square and is freely accessible. Originally, it was a municipal reservoir for river water; after a modern redesign, it now serves purely decorative purposes. The change in function gives the well its historical connection, while its role today is decorative. As physical access may change locally, check before your visit.
Zlončický den takes place each year around the turn of August and September, commemorating the 2002 flood. If you want to plan your trip around the event, check the specific dates in advance. This lets you plan your stay around a recurring date rather than relying only on a general time of year.
