Stránka combines a distinctive Baroque château with village monuments and clearly identified cycling routes. The fertile, wooded landscape complements these cultural and historical features with a rural character. When looking for accommodation, consider whether the château’s history, cycling or an event date should be the focus of your stay.
The château’s history and architecture
Stránka was first mentioned in 1357. Stránka Castle is a two-winged Baroque château with a clock tower and ground-level arcades. The two wings define the structure; the clock tower and arcades add further architectural accents, with the arcades at ground-floor level. This makes it possible to identify the complex by several specific architectural features, not just its style.
A room on the first floor was formerly used as a chapel dedicated to Saint John. It contained a Baroque altar dedicated to Our Lady of Good Counsel. The chapel’s former use and the altar add a religious history to the château’s Baroque exterior.
Village monuments and cycling routes
The war memorial stands in Stránka’s village square and is accessible; cycling routes 0008 and 0009 run immediately beside it. The statue of Saint Wenceslas stands directly beside cycling route 0008. The lower part of the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is particularly badly damaged; a railing protects it from further deterioration. If its current condition matters to your plans, check it again before visiting.
Above Stránka is a wooden structure that is probably a bell tower. It offers a lovely view of the village and is about 50 metres from cycling routes 0008 and 0009. Cycling route 0009 passes through Stránka and connects Mělnické Vtelno, Kadlín, Stránka, Mšeno and Vojtěchov. As well as the local route connections, the names of the places along this route provide useful orientation.
Running event and walking route
The Stránecký běh is a recurring local running event: the 12th edition took place in 2022 and the 13th in 2023. The 2023 race used a 5,400-metre route. In 2022, the Stránecký pochod walking event took place alongside the race; its walking route was also 5,400 metres long. The same route length thus features in two different forms of activity and in different years. If an event date is to determine your trip, check the dates for the relevant travel year.
Landscape and orientation
Stránka lies in a fertile, wooded landscape. This rural character offers a different accent from the château’s architecture and the individual village monuments. A district road also runs near Stránka in the direction of Mladá Boleslav. For orientation, this directional reference differs from the named cycling route 0009, which passes through the village and connects it with other places.
The local highlights can be weighed against one another: the château offers architectural and historical points of interest, while the monuments and cycling routes provide more specific connections to getting around the village. The event information offers another option if a running or walking route is to be the reason for your trip.
