Kozomín combines a landscape shaped by fields and small groves with tangible traces of the village’s history. These include the U Křížku memorial, a wooden bell tower with its own construction and bell history, and two named watercourses. Here, rural character meets clearly defined cultural themes.

Fields and Watercourses

The landscape around Kozomín is largely treeless and predominantly made up of fields, with numerous small groves scattered throughout the countryside. They break up the open agricultural landscape and are part of its distinctive character. If you also take your surroundings into account when choosing a destination, you can compare this landscape of fields with a destination that has more woodland.

The two streams have different connections to the village: the Černávka rises in Kozomín, while the Postřižínský potok flows through the village. One connection describes the stream’s source, the other its course.

Memorial Sites and Architectural History

The U Křížku memorial commemorates a former plague burial site, where a large wooden cross was erected in 1756. It was formerly called “Na hrobích”; this name is documented in surviving parish records from Chvatěruby. Its historical significance therefore includes both the memory of the burial site and its recorded former name.

Another column in Kozomín is flanked by statues of Saint Francis Xavier and Saint Roch. At similar monuments, both saints were invoked as protectors during times of plague. This association provides additional religious context for the figures.

Kozomín’s Dřevěná zvonička is a wooden bell tower: an angularly hewn beam stands on a concrete base and supports a conical roof. The original bell dates from 1842 and is kept at the municipal office; a replica is at the site. The zvonička has been listed as a cultural monument since 2006.

U Křížku and the zvonička offer different ways to explore local history: one site focuses on the memory of a former plague burial site, while the other tells the story of the bell tower’s design and its bell.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Kozomín, a simple consideration can help: would you like your stay to focus more on traces of culture or on the open countryside? Both aspects offer a concrete starting point for choosing your destination.
