A Baroque birthplace, a church with Gothic features, and paths along the Vltava’s left bank give Nelahozeves a distinctive cultural and scenic character. When planning your visit, you can first consider whether music history, architecture, or an outdoor route will shape your stay.
Dvořák and the town’s architectural history
Next to Nelahozeves Castle stands the Baroque birthplace of the renowned Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. It is a designated national cultural monument. The house offers special music education courses, workshops, and concerts. There is also a meditation garden and programs to enrich the community. Individual programs may change, so check in advance which options suit your visit.
The Church of St. Andrew also takes visitors through different eras: it is originally Gothic, and its oldest Gothic part is the presbytery. Inside are a Baroque altar and a Gothic tabernacle. This combination of different architectural elements makes the church a cultural stop in its own right alongside Dvořák’s birthplace. Since the beginning of June 2026, regular guided tours have been held there, presenting the church’s history and architectural features. As dates may change, check the current schedule before your visit.
An installation at Nelahozeves Castle offers another historical perspective. Inspired by the era of Prince Ferdinand Zdeněk of Lobkowicz (1858–1938), it depicts the life of an aristocratic family in Bohemia at the end of the 19th century across twelve salons furnished in a period style. If you are considering a guided tour, find out in advance whether one is being offered and in what form.
Paths between Nelahozeves and the Vltava
The Dvořákova stezka connects Kralupy nad Vltavou with Nelahozeves along the Vltava’s left bank. The red hiking trail and the Prague-to-Dresden cycle route run parallel to it. These are therefore distinct route options along the same corridor, rather than a single route. The Nelahohozeves Castle Trail provides another connection: it leads from the castle grounds to the Dvořákova stezka.
The landscape along the Dvořákova stezka is also described in detail. Lush vegetation lines the path, with tall trees standing along almost its entire length. A rock massif stretches alongside the entire route, and at several points you can get right up to the rock. If you want to include exercise and scenery in your stay, this route offers a clearly defined option alongside the cultural attractions.
