In Líský, a lookout tower, the Královka spring and its chapel, and several places of natural interest come together. The village is located in Džbán Nature Park. Visitors planning a stay can focus on the views, local tradition or protected habitats.

Views and Access to Rozhledna Líský

Rozhledna Líský is a 38-metre-high steel tower. Its viewing platform is 25 metres above the ground and can be reached by climbing 141 steps. From there, the view extends over Kladensko, Louny, Rakovnicko and part of the České středohoří. The heights make clear what to expect at the viewpoint: the platform is well above the surrounding terrain, and the climb involves a specific number of steps.

A marked path leads from the village centre to the tower; Rozhledna is about 700 metres away. Vehicle access is restricted. For planning purposes, it is worth considering the walk and the journey there separately: the marked path describes the route from the village to Rozhledna, while bus route 589 connects Kvílice, Hořešovice, Líský and Louny. The timetable is valid from 14 December 2025; check departure times before travelling.

The Královka Spring, Chapel and Legend

Studánka Královka lies in a birch grove on a hill several hundred metres north of Líský. The Královka Chapel stands above the spring and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. The spring, grove and chapel give the place a clear cultural connection, while its elevation and birch trees also situate it in the landscape.

A legend is associated with Studánka: Eliška Přemyslovna is said to have hidden the keys to the Bohemian Crown Jewels there while fleeing her husband. The story should be understood as a traditional tale; the chapel’s protected status is a separate, explicitly stated connection. Those interested in local stories will find not only a cultural monument here, but also a tale linked to the spring.

Protected Habitats and Orchids

The Vápnomilný bor u Líského site protects calciphilous forest-steppe pine forests. It is home to a relatively large and vigorous population of the small orchid Goodyera repens. Vápnomilný bor u Líského is also the Natura 2000 European Site CZ0210726. It was first designated on 3 November 2009 and covers 4.0755 hectares.

Rare specimens of the purple orchid (vstavač nachový), a European woodland orchid, grow on Líská stráň. A visit around mid-May is recommended for observing the orchids on Líská stráň; the best time may vary from year to year. This seasonal guidance helps with choosing when to visit, without promising a fixed flowering date.

Líský’s nature attractions have different focuses: Vápnomilný bor u Líského is known for its protected pine forests and a population of Goodyera repens, while Líská stráň is associated with rare specimens of the purple orchid. The recommendation to visit in mid-May applies to observing the orchids on Líská stráň.
