Kutrovice lies in a valley where the Bakovský potok crosses Road No. 7 beneath the Kutrovický Bridge. The stream, bridge and road thus provide a concrete geographical reference for the village. A horse chestnut tree in Kutrovice is also designated a natural monument. These two natural features are on different scales: the valley describes the setting of the village, while the chestnut tree is a single designated natural monument. Together with the village architecture, they create a contrast between landscape and architectural history that makes it easier to choose a focus for your visit.

Chapel, village center and architectural history

In the southern part of Kutrovice, a late Baroque chapel dating from the mid-19th century stands in the village square; it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1987. To the west of the chapel stands House No. 2, a two-storey brick house with an arcaded walkway. It is considered an example of regionally typical folk architecture from the first half of the 19th century. The chapel can be understood in terms of its style, period and protected status; House No. 2 is notable for its architectural form and arcaded walkway. These two specific buildings thus raise different questions: the dating and status of a religious building on the one hand, and regional domestic architecture on the other. An old mill adds another historic structure to Kutrovice’s architectural heritage.

The village center as a whole is also of historical interest: the medieval and early modern center of Kutrovice is designated as a Category ÚAN II archaeological area. This designation broadens the perspective beyond individual buildings. Kutrovice is documented as early as 1366 in the title of Petr z Kutrovic. This year anchors the village’s history in an early written record and provides a distinct point of reference alongside the chapel and the 19th-century house. Another cultural connection is the long-established mandolin club. Kutrovice thus brings together the archaeological history of the village, individual buildings and a musical tradition.

Hiking trails and different routes

If you’d like to explore Kutrovice on foot or by bike, you can choose between two routes with different descriptions. The route, just over 11 kilometers long, runs from Tuřany via Byseň, Libovice, U Jána, Neprobylice, Kutrovice and Kvílice to Třebíz. The route is listed as suitable for hiking, off-road strollers and cycling. Its length, the sequence of places and the explicitly stated ways of using it are useful details for planning.

The “Od svatého Ducha do sídla pána z Pětipes” educational trail runs from Kvílice to Neprobylice. Its continuation follows the road to Kutrovice; a short detour leads to the chapel there. For this educational trail, the two endpoints and the road continuation are the main points, while the route from Tuřany to Třebíz is also described in terms of its length and three ways of using it. Check the current trail conditions before setting out; for the educational trail, it is also advisable to check the signage.
