Kmetiněves combines historic religious buildings in the village with flat, agricultural surroundings. The Vranský potok flows through the centre; paths between the fields offer another focus for walks. When planning, you can therefore choose how to balance architectural history and time outdoors.

Church complex and architectural history

The Kostel sv. Václava church complex stands on a slight rise on the eastern edge of the village, along the road and near the village centre. The complex includes a mortuary chapel and a cemetery that is still in use; a boundary wall surrounds the site. Both details are useful for finding your way around the village: the church is near the village centre and also on the eastern edge of the village.

The church dates from the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1731. It is a rectangular single-nave building with a narrower, three-sided chancel and two square sacristies. The original Late Gothic tower, built of stone blocks, stands on the western façade. The furnishings include a Baroque pulpit and a confessional dating from 1741. The dates represent different phases of construction and furnishing: the medieval origins were followed by the Baroque remodelling, and the confessional dates from a later period still.

Chapel and memorial

The Nejsvětější Trojice Chapel offers a different architectural accent. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style in the second half of the 19th century, probably on the site of an older chapel. A stone cross is set into its side façade. The chapel stands on the road to the village centre. Its period of construction differs markedly from that of the church, whose origins are medieval and which was later remodelled in the Baroque style.

The memorial to those who fell in the World War also has a specific historical date: its statue was erected and unveiled in 1922.

Stream, fields and walks

Kmetiněves lies on both banks of the Vranský potok, which flows through the village centre. Fields cover most of the cadastral area; the region is fertile and shaped by agriculture. This describes the character of the landscape more precisely than a single attraction: the stream is part of the village landscape, while the fields define its surroundings.

The flat landscape around Kmetiněves is crossed by numerous paths and tracks between the fields. The paths in the area are suitable for walking. However, no marked tourist route passes through Kmetiněves. If you are planning a walk, check current path conditions in advance, as paths and route networks can change.

Annual event

Every year, the Christmas lights on the Christmas tree are switched on in front of the municipal office. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the exact date in advance. This helps distinguish this time-specific event from the buildings and landscape features that define the area year-round.
