Culinary and Cultural Experiences
Zhonghua Street of Regional Specialties is on the second floor of Dongyi Department Store. It brings together specialties and snacks from different parts of China and is also a popular destination for tourist photo stops. Russian- or Korean-influenced cuisine is recommended as a culinary experience on Dongyi Sino-Russian Style Street and Chaoxian Ethnic Culture Street. Different culinary themes are represented side by side, without specifying individual restaurants or offerings.
On Chaoxian Ethnic Culture Street, a 125-meter-long folk-style alley features Korean-influenced signs, facades and shop windows, colorful paths and four photo walls. In Jiangbin Park, a sculpture group commemorates the eight women who threw themselves into the river. The site is a national martyrs’ memorial and offers a different cultural focus from the city’s shopping and cultural streets.
In the wider travel region, Dong’an District’s Dong’an 1946 Cultural and Creative Park was created by redeveloping the former site of the Mudanjiang Woodworking Machinery Factory. The factory was founded in 1946 and was then the second-largest site of its kind in Asia. Today, the park brings together cultural and creative industries, exhibitions, sports and fitness, dining and bars. The Wider Travel Region
San Dao Guan National Forest Park is located in Aimin District, northwest of Mudanjiang’s urban area, and covers 8,000 hectares. The section of the Mudanjiang border wall in San Dao Guan is 38.629 kilometers long and runs through several villages in Aimin District. A notice dated May 25, 2020, reported that 13 sections of the border wall in the forest park had opened to tourism; check current access conditions before visiting.
