Places of Remembrance and History
The Cemitério dos Heróis da Retirada da Laguna is a historic site protected by IPHAN. It is 5.8 km from the Centro de Atendimento ao Turista. The cemetery contains the graves of Coronel Camisão, Tenente-Coronel Juvêncio, and José Francisco Lopes. Lopes was a local guide who helped the imperial army. These graves make the site a tangible point of reference for the history of the Retirada.
The Sala de Exposição da Retirada da Laguna adds to this historical perspective with its collection. Most of the collection was found near the cemetery and the former Fazenda Jardim. The Sala de Exposição da Comissão de Estradas de Rodagem nº 3 (CER-3) focuses on a different aspect of history. It is located inside the 4ª Cia de Engenharia de Combate Mecanizada and preserves a collection about Jardim's origins and the city's founding in the 1930s and 1940s. While the Sala de Exposição da Retirada da Laguna relates to the Retirada, the CER-3 exhibition focuses on the city's development. Together, the two collections offer different perspectives on periods in Jardim's history.
Water and Nature Experiences in the Municipality
Lagoa Misteriosa lies at the bottom of a 75-meter-deep sinkhole, covered with vegetation and surrounded by forest. Activities at Lagoa include hiking on trails, snorkeling, scuba diving, and technical diving. Visitors can choose between walking trails and various activities in the water.
