You can plan a trip to Cassilândia around several specific themes: a square in the town center, water and landscape features across the municipality, and various events. Praça São José is a clearly located landmark in the town center. Cachoeira do Socorro and the area around Salto offer a landscape and historical perspective, while festivals with their own names and organizers add to the picture. Decide whether a central gathering place, nature and history, or an event date will shape your plans.

A fountain in the town center

Praça São José is in the center of Cassilândia. Its renovated fountain has LED lighting that highlights the flow of water, especially at night; the square is also a tourist attraction and a place for leisure. The renovation was described in December 2025. If you would like to experience the nighttime lighting effect, check in advance whether the lights are still operated in this way.

Water, landscape and history

A 2021 account lists Cachoeira do Socorro as a site with riparian forest and permanently protected areas (Áreas de Preservação Permanente, APP) in the municipality of Cassilândia. While Praça São José is explicitly located in the town center, Cachoeira points to nature and conservation within the municipality. This shifts the focus to riverside vegetation and the protection of permanently preserved areas, rather than just the fountain in the town center. A list published in 2021 also names Ponte Velha as a tourist attraction in the municipality of Cassilândia.

Salto adds a historical perspective. Before the state-owned company was sold at the end of 1997, several improvements were made in the area around Salto, in the municipality of Cassilândia, to develop it into a balneário (bathing and recreation area). A 2011 tourism study described the area around Salto as a tourist landmark of the city of Cassilândia. The area around Salto thus reflects two distinct historical moments: the earlier development plans and its later recognition as a tourist destination. If you are planning to visit Salto today, check current visitor access in advance.

Festivals in the municipality

Cassilândia also offers cultural events at the municipal level. A 2021 account described Festa de Vinhos e Queijos as an annual event organized by the Rotary Club. The same account named Festa do Peão e Expo Cassilândia as an annual festival organized by Sindicato Rural de Cassilândia-MS. The names themselves indicate their themes: Vinhos e Queijos refers to wine and cheese, while Peão e Expo has a different festival focus. Another account from 2021 lists Cassifolia as a street carnival in the municipality of Cassilândia. The names offer an initial sense of what each event is about; check current dates before planning your trip around one of these festivals.
