A centrally located city park, a market with a diverse selection, and natural areas at varying distances give Naviraí a range of reasons to visit. If you are looking for a hotel, it is best to base your choice on your specific destination and dates: visiting a park, visiting a market, and attending a festival scheduled for a specific date each raise different planning questions.
Parks and nature on different scales
Parque Municipal Sucupira is located on Avenida Caarapó in central Naviraí. A municipal description dated January 9, 2025, mentions a walking and running route more than 800 meters long and a centrally located lake. Check the current condition of the facilities before your visit. The described route offers a specific option for exercising in the park; the lake gives the park a second, distinct focal point.
Parque Natural Municipal do Córrego Cumandaí is the only municipal protected area in Naviraí that lies entirely within the urban area. The protected area is home to a variety of birdlife, including toco toucans and blue-fronted amazons. Promoting environmental education is one of its aims. The two green spaces therefore differ in their described character: at Sucupira, the walking and running route and the lake take center stage, while at Cumandaí, it is the protected area and its birdlife.
Other natural areas should be considered at the municipal level. Within the municipality of Naviraí, 16,284.8512 hectares of Parque Estadual das Várzeas do Rio Ivinhema are located. The protected park covers a total of 73,345.15 hectares in the Rio Paraná basin and also extends across Jateí and Taquarussu. The municipality also contains 21 islands belonging to Parque Nacional de Ilha Grande, with a combined area of 6,585.6880 hectares. The national park as a whole covers 78,875.00 hectares and was established on September 30, 1997. These figures refer to the municipal area, not only the city center.
A specific birdwatching opportunity took place in 2024 at Parque Natural Municipal de Naviraí as part of Global Big Day; about 91 bird species were recorded. The park is 45 kilometers from the urban area and can be reached via the Naviraí/Porto Caiuá road. This distance sets it clearly apart from the centrally located Sucupira and is relevant when planning to visit both destinations.
Feira do Galo: Check the location and selection
In February 2025, Feira do Galo was located on Avenida Campo Grande, opposite the offices of the Gerência de Desenvolvimento Econômico. Check the location before your visit. The selection reported that same month included vegetables, legumes, fruit, root vegetables, baked goods, handicrafts, and dairy products. Individual vendors and products may change. The range makes the market a different kind of visit from the parks: here, food and handicrafts take center stage, rather than exercise or birdwatching.
Festivals with specific dates
Naviraí’s events can be put into context by looking at past editions. The 23rd FEJUNAVI – Encantos do Nordeste II is the city’s traditional June festival. The event took place on June 13, 2026, at Praça Prefeito Euclides Antônio Fabris; it celebrated the culture and traditions of the Northeast and admission was free. This information applies to that edition. It offers a specific impression of the event’s cultural focus, but does not replace checking current event dates.
The 28th Exponavi was Naviraí’s agricultural fair. On the first day of the event in November 2022, the program included, among other things, a bull show and a performance by the duo Mato Grosso e Mathias. The Festival do Churrasco de Naviraí can also be described through a past edition: its second edition took place in April 2024, with free admission, at Parque de Exposições Tatsue Suekane. Choosing a hotel based on your plans and location
Cycling may also factor into your plans: a report dated June 2, 2025, noted that a bike path was under construction on Avenida Dourados. If you plan to use this stretch for a ride, check its current construction status first. The construction project does not mean that the bike path is complete.
