In the Mühlviertel region of Upper Austria, Sarleinsbach offers a variety of options for an active getaway: the Lebensblickeweg trail provides insights into everyday life in the past, circular hikes range from 8.7 to 19.2 kilometres, and there are also the natural swimming pool and the Granitland mountain biking region. The options differ both in activity and theme. When planning your trip, factors such as route length, local history, sustainability, swimming areas and cycling all play a part.

Themed trails exploring local history and sustainability

The Lebensblickeweg passes twelve themed points. Old photographs show the everyday lives of Sarleinsbach residents in days gone by, giving the hike a connection to the town’s history. The trail is family-friendly. The Schauplatz Nachhaltigkeit offers another thematic perspective: it makes Sarleinsbach’s development into a model municipality visible and tangible, and shows how sustainable living can work in practice. The two offerings focus on different things: one looks back at everyday life in the past, while the other explores the municipality’s development and sustainable living.

Circular hikes by length and character

At 8.7 kilometres, the Theresia-Kiesl-Weg is the shortest of the three circular hikes mentioned. It is dedicated to Olympic champion Theresia Kiesl. The scenic Bergkräuter-Weg covers 17.2 kilometres and is described as a full-day hike. At 19.2 kilometres, the Brezer-Jausen-Weg is the longest loop. This makes it easy to compare the routes by length; their descriptions also highlight different features: the dedication of the Theresia-Kiesl-Weg and the full-day-hike character of the Bergkräuter-Weg. All three are circular routes, but their lengths differ considerably.

Natural swimming pool with different swimming areas

The Sarleinsbach natural swimming pool complements the hiking options with a dedicated swimming area. Its swimming area covers 1,100 m². The natural swimming pool includes a small bathing pond, wooden jetties, a pebble beach, swimming areas for children and toddlers, a wooden diving tower and a floating island. The pool’s individual features are easy to distinguish: it has different swimming and shoreline areas, as well as additional facilities in and around the water. Its water treatment is another special feature: the water is purified using a biotope-based process, without chemicals.

Mountain biking in Granitland

Sarleinsbach is part of the Granitland mountain biking region. Red signposts mark the routes. Mountain biking is another activity to enjoy alongside the hiking trails and natural swimming pool. If you would like to factor this option into your travel plans, the region has its own way of indicating the routes: the red signposts show where they go. Sarleinsbach therefore offers a choice of themed hikes, circular routes of varying lengths, swimming and mountain biking to suit different interests during your stay.
